In our first 46 games under Rex/Tanny we only lost 3 games by more than 14 points. Win or lose, we were in almost every game, right down to the end. Getting blown out was very rare ... 6.5% of the time. Starting with the second New England game last season up to today in Seattle ... the last 17 times we've taken the field we've lost 7 times by more than 14 points. That's 41% of the time! This really highlights just how much of a step back this team has taken since the second half of last season. Very depressing. And if you're Mike Tannenbaum it should scare the crap out of you.
Sanchez has regressed, we have gotten rid of actual leaders in the locker room and a lot of guys have gotten old and slow quickly.
I was kinda aware of this.... in 09 only that Pats game wasnt close. In 2010 again tht 1 Pats game was the only non competitive game. Since that Ravens game of last year we have been blown out multiple times.
It's just amizing to me how quickly we went from being one series away from a SB appearnce to being so frequently non-competitive.
Yes, that would qualify as an alarming trend. I think it highlights how bad Sanchez has been since that Ravens game and how old our linebackers have gotten overnight. We were able to generate a pass rush early in the game tonight but once Seattle began to establish the run we were cooked.
Gotta build smart through the draft. You don't need overwhelming names and pay days, just talent. Look at what Seattle is building. They used to be exactly what the Jets are now.
HEre's the difference, Shitty Fuckbutt Asshat Piece of Shit Shitchez doesn't have a top 5 running game or defense to bail his shitty fucking worthless ass out.
Leadership and mental toughness is reverting on this team, and nothing signifies that more than the starting QB.
Iv noticed a trend too. The defense Holds on and makes plays and periodically falters . Then the offense does nothing and the quarter back tuns the ball over consistently. Its a tough time when the only way you can use the word consistently, is when describing your quarter backs bad decisions.
I don't see anyone handing blame to Rex here, but it is his job to develop the talent he has been given. I think a strong argument can be made that his early wins came with a team his predecessor built. THIS team is the product of HIS development skills. That's enough for me. He is a quality DC, but that is it.
Speaking of blowouts. If not for Wilk's TD this would've been the second time Jets were shutout I believe. Wouldn't surprise me if there's at least one more shutout coming this season.
To be fair we've lost Revis, Holmes, an inexperienced right tackle, rookie WR's, no decent blocking TE, no bigtime RB, Pouha was hurt, new faces on defense, and a new OC with a new system. That's quite a lot to overcome, especially losing your best offensive player and your best defensive player. The defense has stepped up with the loss of Revis, but the offense continues to be erratic. Seattle is a tough stadium to play in for anybody, and the Jets hung tough for a while out there. The defense got to Wilson really well, which is a bright spot. Also it's not like the offense looked bad against a bad defense, Seattle is a top team against the pass and the run.
Seattle has a very tough defense. I don't think any of us really thought the Jets would go out there and beat them in their own house. Seattle has beaten Green Bay and New England this season too. Caroll has built a very strong defense out there. Still the Jets hung with them for most of the game, and Wilson wasn't exactly having fun getting chased around and sacked all afternoon either.
Quarterbacks have weaknesses. Kind of like batters in Major League Baseball. For a batter, it's call a "hole" in his swing -- a particular area or pitch he doesn't hit well. Once his hole is revealed, everybody starts pitching to it. Whether the batter ultimately succeeds for years depends on whether he can overcome that hole, learn to hit the pitch. Sanchez has one ore more holes in his game at QB. Teams know how to play him. They've taken away what he's most comfortable doing. Up until now, he hasn't demonstrated an ability to do something different, to challenge defenses in ways he hasn't before.
Losing up in Seattle is understandable. O getting shutout for the second time is not acceptable though. This O is so bad it forces the D to either give up or wear down. Then you wind up with a D that doesn't looks ineffective, an O that looks like they tanked it before the game even began & sometimes Special Teams also sucks. So frustrating watching this team right now. It's more than losing it's the lack of competitiveness that's becoming the norm.
What's changed - The have lost Faneca, Woody, Washington, Smith, LT, Jones, Cotchery, Edwards, and Burress on offense You have taken away the ability of the team to go deep, dump the ball off, have a 5 yard play turn into a 50 yard run, you have made the team inept on offense by ignoring it for years in the draft and in free agency. Look at Atlanta -- They draft Matt Ryan and have a solid WR, TE, and RB -- they go out and get another elite receiver. New Orleans is loaded at receiver - they go out and get a stud TE and sign Sproles The Pats - even with on offense that can always put up points they draft the top 2 TEs in one draft, bring in countless receivers and young RBs that they play and mix it up. The Jets big move on offense this off season? Ignore all legit options and to piss away draft picks on Tebow while drafting another offensive project in round 2.
