I'm sorry....but did I read that the Jets had an intra-squad scrimmage and couldn't score a touchdown?!?!? 6-3?!?!? All the news was about Penny....but everyone sorta missed the fact that the Jets couldn't score a freakin TD!!!! Wow...we won't win 3 games this year. At least we'll get Adrian Peterson. Am I missing something?
Oakland beat Philly last night 16-10. If that is all either of those teams can muster, they won't be winning many games. I guess since it is PreSeason, it doesn't matter at all.
Note that the rules were essentially "two hand touch". I think it's pretty hard to have a rushing attack with those rules...
Not relevant.... This scrimmage was a big deal. They drove all the way to that dump they call East Rutherford. It was supposed to be a measuring stick - if you will. 3 fuckin' field goals?!?! And Mangini's response? "I was encouraged by Penny". Good work Eric....your team, somehow, has gone backwards. Our D isn't exactly the 85 Bears. I just threw up in my mouth thinking about it.
its a SCRIMMAGE, with a lot of players running around out there who won't even be on the team at the end of the pre-season
1) There were 3rd stringers and FAs playing. 2) There was limited tackling, "two-hand touch" as has been stated. 3) During the second half, Mangini had specific game time situations. So it wasn't exactly like a real game. 4) Relax. It was just a way to gauge the players. Help them get used to playing in a stadium and the rooks get used to an NFL stadium. To see how people handle their assignments and such. It was a scrimmage, I wouldn't make too much of it. At least Nugent got some good reps in.
What the fuck??? It was supposed to simulate game like situations, not be a measuring stick too how good the team is. If you want to think of it like that, than I guess you could say Mangini is a defensive genious too.
If we get wiped 41-0 on Friday vs. T.B., check back in and repost your scrimmage angst by substituting the word "scrimmage" with "preseason game." In the meantime, follow this advice that Dan Aykroyd, playing Jimmy Carter, once gave to someone who took an overdose of Orange Sunshine: "Everything is going to be fine. You're very high right now. You will probably be that way for about five more hours. Try taking some vitamin B complex, vitamin C complex. If you have a beer, go ahead and drink it. Just remember you're a living organism on this planet. And you're very safe. You've taken a heavy drug. Relax, stay inside and listen to some music, OK? Do you have any Allman Brothers?"
Whew! Some of you people need to relax. As others have said, it was just a scrimmage. Things to remember before you go completely nuts about the 6-3 score. 1. They havent installed the whole offense yet so play choices were limited. 2. Defense is way ahead of offense at this point (for everybody). 3. They only kept score the traditional way in the first half. 4. In preseason scrimmages everyone plays. Try not to panic agains until at least the last preseason game.
