From New York Post today: A great read and once i was done I was thinking when was the last time Dee Millner was on the field. But I cant wait for the clips of the first day on the field. The Jets move to the next chapter of their offseason Tuesday when the team opens its voluntary minicamp, the first under new coach Todd Bowles. The NFL gives teams with new head coaches an additional minicamp so the coaches have more time to install their systems. The Jets will be on the field Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday learning their new offense and defense. Here are five things to watch this week: 1. Meet the new boss This will be the first opportunity to see Bowles on the field with his team. Former coach Rex Ryan liked to keep things light at practice. Will Bowles be more serious? It will be interesting to watch his demeanor on the field. Off of it, Bowles seems very laid back. We’ll also get our first glimpse at new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, the fourth different OC the Jets have had in five years. TWO - Through FIVE in Article

Star defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson has been a no-show for the Jets’ offseason program as he tries to get a contract extension. Will he stay away from the minicamp or end his protest? Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan has said Wilkerson’s contract, which expires after this season, will be a priority after this week’s draft. Since this camp is voluntary, Wilkerson cannot be fined for missing it. 3. Geno’s back Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback in this minicamp because Ryan Fitzpatrick is still recovering from a broken leg. Smith worked this offseason with throwing guru Tom House. Will any differences be noticeable? Probably not. It will be interesting to see how comfortable Smith looks in Gailey’s offense and if there is any chemistry between him and Brandon Marshall, whom the Jets acquired in March. He doled out close to $100 million in guaranteed money, and nearly $60 million of that went to cornerbacks Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine. We all know how bad the Jets secondary was last season. Now, this new-look group will share the field, tormenting the Jets’ offense this spring and summer. One player who won’t be out there is safety Marcus Gilchrist, who is recovering from a shoulder injury. 5. Health updates Fitzpatrick and Gilchrist are two notable new guys who won’t be on the field this week because of injuries. There surely will be a few more players who have injuries we have not heard about. Then, there are the players recovering from injuries suffered last season such as cornerbacks Dee Milliner (Achilles) and Dexter McDougle (ACL) and guard Brian Winters (ACL). None of these players are expected to do much, but this will be the media’s first chance since the end of last season to ask them about their recovery.
Man, I don't want to hear about McDougle and Milliner "on the bikes" again. Gets so old. Milliner has elite talent but he was a lousy pick.
I have zero expectations regarding Geno and Millener... and getting Mariota Thursday, regrettably. That tempers my excitement about the off season moves, the up coming draft, and the season. Mac's work has just started
Milliner will have plenty of opportunities to play in this defense, with Bowles using the Dime package so much. I would bet Milliners performance this season will dictate whether or not the Jets bring Cromartie back next year. The Jets have set themselves up this year so they don't need to depend on Milliner, but simultaneously he won't wither away on the bench. I like it.
This is a damn good situation for Milliner. He'll get plenty of opportunities to play, and wont be thrown directly into the fire following his injury. Bowles apparently runs plenty of dime. Not only that, he'll be able to learn from Revis (hopefully). I wouldnt be shocked if by the end of the year he's the number 2 CB (health permitting)
lol crazy how people give up on Geno and milliner already... 2 years into the hardest positions to adapt to in the NFL... and get written off by their own fan base. Amazing.
I read the ledger version of the story. They had a short video up that opens with what looks like tackle angle drills. My first thought was that it's too bad Pryor decided not to show up. My second thought was "am I really this excited about Jets football this year I'm analyzing mini camp footage?" The answer is yes I'm excited. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/04/8_observations_from_first_day_of_jets_voluntary_ve.html
I hear ya man, but let's give the kid at least one more chance; albeit a little one. This is going to be his first year with reasonable professional coaching. Hopefully the guy can at least be turned into a decent backup. We haven't had one of those in so long that I was excited by the Drew Stanton signing(until they fucked it up) and by the Fitzpatrick deal(even though he's probably going to start).
