Per ESPN.com. Interesting that Plank was fired.

Smith is the only one that I wanted back.

I wonder why Plank was fired.

I'd love to know the story behind Plank's exit.

Plank must have really fucked up....maybe he overruled one of Rex's coverage calls on a particular play that burned us....who knows

I was kinda expecting some coaching staff to be fired after we got shit kicked yesterday, especially any secondary coaches because our secondary sucks, if we arent playing man to man we are terrible, lack of a pass rush makes matters worse as well.

Good, our defensive backs, minus Revis and Leonhard, were awful all year. Rhodes and Sheppard, especially, were terrible, and they've proven themselves better players than that.

Maybe there was some deal with the organization where Rex got some extra budget for coaches for one year? I dunno.

Planck was the one that got me. I liked the idea of him being on staff.

I don't really care about the other guys, but I liked Smith being around, the players and Ryan praised him.

That was as much do to a good pass rush as anything. We didn't get too many sacks but we forced some awful throws, and you can't tell me Rhodes didn't regress this year, and badly.

Rhodes was bad early, but responded well to Rex's benching. I think he still needs a major attitude adjustment, but we could do a lot worse.

Our d-backs did pretty well this year IMO. Surely they weren't all terrible outside of Revis/Leonhard. We got eaten alive by Peyton frikin Manning when we were forced to have Lowery playing at #2 cb when he is a nickel and our 5th string CB seeing significant playing time. I think you're being a bit reactive after yesterdays game.

Rhodes didn't regress this year.. that started back in '07 after he made All-Pro.

And we had an awful pass rush when we didn't blitz. Our secondary is what let us blitz so often without giving up the "easy" throws.

Plank got fired because aside from Revis, lowery, coleman and sheppard have declined this year steadily... Rhodes played with no intensity most of the year. Leohnard and Revis were the only two guys in a 8 man DB field whose talent increased as the year progressed...
