I don't know what the story is with A-rod. He earlier this year in a SI poll was voted the majors most dis-liked player. Jeter apparently can't stand him. Torre batted him eight (or ninth I can't remember) in a playoff game to humiliate him because Torre can't stand him, regardless of his public posturing about Dodgers signing A-rod (probably to tweak the Yankees). His wife shows up at Yankee stadium with a vulgar T-shirt. Texas could not do enough to get rid of him. Boston (Manny in particular) wanted no part of BOSOX offering him a contract this year. There is an APPARENT underlying problem with A-Rod. Let the Yankee fans kiss his stupid ass for the next 10 years. He loved being a Yankee so much he authorized Boras to opt-out and then when he realized that NO OTHER TEAM wanted any part of him, he crawled back to the Yankees. GOOD RIDDANCE.
I'll leave this thread to RichMiano to argue cause he wanted the Mets to "get this guy". Seriously, put the grapes down Joe. Had it been the Mets who were about to sign him you'd be singing a different tune.
The level of jealousy has reached a new low. BTW, how can a Mets fan say good riddance? Now that's funny.
Thanks bud.... I did want him but I knew the Mets wouldn't show the sack to go after him. He is a little bitch but he's still the best player in baseball bitch and all. I'm with you though, what the hell is the point of this thread? And didn't he get 275 not 300 million? WTF Joe, you retired at 13 and you can't get the number right.
Just an aside (kinda): I think Torre batted AROD eight because he was sruggling...not simply because he "hated him"
Ollie and Johnny, you two guys have your head(s) so far up the Arod's ass, you bring new meaning to an "upper" colonoscopy. Just point out one part of my post that is not fact.
A-Rod is the most talented albatross in major league history. As a Met's fan I'm glad the Yankees re-signed him.
my point was that your point about a-rod being hated is useless, meaningless and retarded....who cares if people dont like him...we're not inviting him to a rollerskating party
I'll do it. Interesting, considering how they seemed to be getting along quite well by the mid-to-end of last season. It may or may not be true, but you surely cannot refer to it as a "fact". We already have someone here who does that. Again, it could be true that Torre doesn't like him, but that's your assumption, and there's been no proof of such a feeling anywhere I've seen. And it is definitely not a fact that Torre hit him so low because of his personal feelings for ARod. The fact is, Torre bowed to pressure from the media and fans who were demanding Alex be dropped in the lineup due to his (lack of) performance. Not that this has anything to do with the fact argument, but what does this have to do with anything? She wore that shirt after the whole "ARod with a strange blonde" story. Personally, I don't blame her. Again, you're inserting your assumptions, and deeming them facts. The facts are: 1) ARod opted out after having Boras over for a weekend to speak with he and his wife. Since the opt-out, Boras has taken the full blame for the entire situation. 2) He has said repeatedly he has wanted to be a Yankee, and always intended to stay. He obviously convinced the Yankees brass that he is serious. 3) 18 days is an impossibly short amount of time for anyone to determine that there was no interest anywhere else, especially considering the ridiculous offers teams such as the Angels were willing to make. So to say he crawled back because there was no interest is clearly ridiculous. Sorry, but there aren't too many facts in your original post at all. It just sounds like you're bitter that you didn't get him.
He did sing a different tune. He created a thread some weeks back wherein he implored the Mets to sign A-Rod.
