3 Biggest FA's on my Jets shopping list

THESE WOULD BE MY THOUGHTS IF I WERE GM(<<corrected ESPECIALLY FOR JACKASS'S like mrelectric 29 & nyj2k09)
These 3 have been listed as 2009 Free Agents
Asomugha has been upset with the Raiders lack of respect for franchising him twice in a row and is weel on his way out.Hayden has a 50/50 chance of staying/leaving the Colts.Canty is a deffinite.I have listed whom would be the most important signing from 1 to 3.Now if were lucky enough we can save some money off Favre and sign one of the below.
    1)Nnamdi Asomugha-i have been praising(well earned) this guy from the first post i wrote.hes currently the best defensive back in the Nfl.we all know there is a 95% chance this isnt happening,but just imagine arguably the best CB tandem in the NFL with Asomugha and Revis{he's at least worth a call to his agent even if we cant afford him}
2)Kelvin Hayden-another awesome Cb who was #1 starter for a pretty good Colt defense. he is not only two years younger than asomugha but also arguably alot cheaper. You can also make a damn good case of Revis/Hayden as the best CB tandem in the league. i think he is a must if we cannot acquire asomugha because not only does he make our backfield 2X better but gives us more breathing room in the first round as we can adress other areas.
3)Chris Canty-upcoming great defensive end in the 3-4 espeacially.if this signing happens then im again happy because this would give us the chance to finally get rid of stinky Kenyon Coleman and gives us a noce front line in Ellis,Jenkins,Canty.this signing also most likely means we dont have to draft DE until the later rounds unless you want ellis gone also.(i think has another good year in,so we can preferably wait until next year)
IMO if we sign a DE means were drafting a first round cb
if we sign a Cb means were drafting a first round De
i think if this is done before the draft we may definetly simplify on our draft needs and thus make them easier
    comments/opinions?

If Favre comes back i dont think we get any of them. If he retires i say go fo Asomugha and that gives us an instant "Elite" Pass coverage. Chris Canty who's been one of the best 3-4 Ends in the NFL and would be a big upgrade to the former backup of Cantys KenYon Coleman. Hayden wouldnt be bad but if we get Asomugah theres no need and we would just be in even more cap shit.

And where are the Jets going to get all this $$ ? It's not like we're the Cardinals sitting on 40M. We're over the cap right now.

Brett retiring will help but even then we won't have a lot to throw around. Asomugha & Canty will want hugh contracts.

All the more reason to get rid of a player who will be 41 at the beginning of next season, and MAY have something left in the tank.
All the Favre defenders on this board should read this. I don't care how productive he MAY be, him coming back holds this team back from being successful.
The FA's you mentioned would be great additions to this team. They would not only help us NOW, but also in the future.

No more big ticket free agents. It is not the way to build a good team over the long run. Build through the draft.

Nmadi will be insanely expensive an were over the cap, doubt it happens

the colts run a 4-3 cover two. the CB's need to be active in run support and damn good in man coverage for our Rex's system.

ive watched Hayden and like him but i dunno how hed fit in the new system. let alone i wouldnt like to give a big contract to a zone corner hoping he transitions well.

give me chris canty in a heartbeat though. unless we draft tyson jackson at 17.

Ndamdi Asomougha is going to be franchised. Stop making threads abut the Jets signing him.

PS - Learn how to spell.

an interesting list--thanks for posting--Now that Drob has finally been let go, Coleman= #1 overpaid underachiever on jets. Not sure that management thinks that, as they still must believe Brad Smith and Bryan Thomas are good investments and they stink about as bad.

You take your shot "Now" while building towards the future but you can't expect to do both with a rookie QB. These are not the old days of taking five years to build a team for the Super Bowl. The Jet's have the majority of the pieces in place "now" so you take "Another Shot Now" !!!

What an ass. This is made up. You made the list. Your title makes it seem like a viable article explaining what the Jets need. This list is a fairy tale list.

If King Brett comes back we're not signing anyone worth a damn...
If he finally gives it up then we can probably grab one big name FA...once again another team waits on Brett.

If we can't sign Canty, Igor Olshansky is another run-stopping DE that could fit into Ryan's system as well.

The Jets should should check these guys out if nothing. We are not going to be able to sign Asomugha; some team is guaranteed to give him a HUGE contract and we simply don't have the cap space. Canty, too, seems like he will demand a big contract; if we can get him for cheap, pull the trigger. I don't know much about Kelvin Hayden, but if he is as good as you have hyped him up to be, he should definitely be signed.

I feel as though Ryan will bring some guys that played for him in Baltimore over; they will be given first priority.

Yep, and it's the last year the Raiders can franchise him. Can you imagine what he'll command next year in a cap-free environment?

If this year proved anything, it proved you can win NOW with a young QB. The Falcons, and Ravens had young QB's and were in the playoffs.
You cannot have the largest salaried player against the cap be a 41 year old, washed up QB. We could get a guy like Leftwich for a fraction of the money due Favre, and still be able to improve the rest of our team.
In order for this team to be successful, both NOW and in the FUTURE, Favre must go.I know we'll miss his pinpoint accuracy, and his firey pre-game pep talks, but you gotta take the good with the bad i guess.

Canty and Scrabble are legit targets but Hayden does not belong on that list. Karlos Dansby should definitely be a top 3 target.
