I hope the defense does to Carr like what they did to Manuel in the first Bills game last year. I want to see a clean efficient offense. Hopefully we win 23-7 or something like that.
Don't fear Shaub (or Carr), they're traveling cross country, and their defense is manageable. I expect a W. Also hope to NOT see Dee this time out, let him rest. Even if he can run a bit he's of no use to us should he reinsure that ankle.
No excuses for the offense this game. The Raiders secondary is very young and has looked pretty bad at times in the preseason. There should be plenty of holes for CJ2k and Ivory to get some great yardage as well. This game will tell us everything we need to know about this season. If we put up 30+ points then we will stand a chance against teams like the Packers, Lions, Bears, and Chargers because their defenses's are all mediocre to bad. If we can't score against the Raiders though then we are in for a brutal season.
Rex Ryan is 4-1 in home openers, the only loss was that fluke loss where Greene Fumbled and Cromartie had that idiotic penalty on the punt. (Although last year the Jets did get kinda lucky not going to lie.)
As silly as it seems, this is about as "must-win" as a season opener can get. Our schedule is brutal the first 8 weeks.
Yep, and if the team loses, everything will flip real quickly as we had to Green Bay. I am confident we win this game, I think it will be along the lines of 24-14.
I truly believe if we have a chance at the playoffs we "need" a win here. Of course, that could be wrong but it's what I believe. Confidence is what we need for the early part of our schedule. I'd love to see a win with Geno playing great, and the pass rush harassing Carr or Schaub. I say rest Dee Milliner, no need, we shouldn't "need" him to win. Prediction: 16 - 24 Jets
I like to see the secondary play penalty free football in preparation for the brutal task ahead during the next few games. The offense needs to play poised yet aggressive.
Only in the NFL you can get away with this about the first game of the season and not sound like a complete moron. That's why I love this game!
Knowing the Jets under Sexy Rexy, we will lose games that we should win and yet upset playoff bound teams with the whole "us against the world" mentality. I say we lose this game and go undefeated until our bye week. Honestly though, this game could be a toss up, its week 1, crazy stuff happens. Good Geno or Bad Geno? That is the Question.
This game is a lose/lose from an overall outlook standpoint. Win and its "so what you beat the Raiders at home, thats what your supposed to do" type of comments. Lose and holy shit we might be looking at 0-8. Anyways the season doesnt really start for me til Week 2. Go into Green Bay 1-0 and maybe we can put the league on notice at Lambeau.
That last phrase my friend, it's music to my ears. If we beat GB the watch out for the Jets flag comes out in force
