Whoever takes over the Atlanta job.

Just look at this year. The top candidates were coaches who took over teams that were ravaged by injuries the year before (NYJ, Philly),hurricane in NOs case). Those teams underachieved the year before, but had decent teams that should have done better. Impatience by ownership resulted in new head coaches that look like geniuses for 'turning around the franchise'.

Atlanta is the perfect example of this. They were a good team that got killed by defensive injuries. The odds are that next year they will have less injuries. The same team will win 12 games and 'insert name here' will win coach of the year.

That team needs a competent offensive coordinator that realizes that team is at its best when they are running the football. Too many times that team tried to get cute with Vick running around and out of the pocket trying to make the big play. They have Warrick Dunn and the rookie that had the best ypc avg.... run the football! As far as the passing game they need receivers that may not be the best route runners but can catch the freaking football when it comes to them! When your tight end has the most reliable hands it tends to hurt you offensively.

I'm not sure I can agree with that. He didn't kill Frank Beamer or Dan Reeves. Jim Mora, Jr. killed himself by being silly.

Okay. I know Mora Sr. said something like that some weeks back. I thought maybe you were in agreement with his thinking that Vick was going to help get the son fired due to erratic play.

RE: Mangini. It is possible, but not likely. The Jets would probably have to go 13-3 or better for Mangini to win it.

Coach killer is a little strong, perhaps, but Mike Vick is a QB who is incredibly highly paid, makes a lot of money for his team in souvenir jerseys, etc., has many obvious physical gifts, is very inconsistent, and has shown himself to be extraordinarily difficult in fitting into any sort of conventional offense. Between the devastating effect on the team of an injury (this is not a team that a backup could step in and lead to the playoffs if it has been built around Vick), the frustration in waiting for Vick to be able to execute a game plan, and the difficulty (impossibility?) of trading him or releasing him, I wouldn't want him quartbacking my team.
