I personally think the "analysis" is silly, but here's something to distract the restless as we count down to the big game (T minus 14!), something for everyone. Just in case the real incendiary comment is missed otherwise, I will highlight it. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/10/30/chff/index.html
Well, at this point, what that guy says is true. Still a half season to go, but so far the Dolphins are the big winners (although the Packers look good too as it's clear they have a franchise QB to replace Favre).
You're not gonna touch the other end of the hot iron in that line, NDmick? You know, the Stone Age offensive theories part as a big part of the reason it never happened? I thought that was the real stick in the eye of the line.
This is absolutely RETARDED to put Pennington in the same breath as Manning or Brady based on half a season in which his team is 3-4. Including a game where he had the ball in the 4th quarter to take the win and threw an INT in the endzone. Unbelievable. I'm pretty sure he's never made a Pro Bowl. He's never even got anywhere near the Super Bowl. When will people get over Pennington. We had the guy for what 8 years as our starter and we got NO where. If it wasn't for injuries? He played all 16 games in 2006, had 17 TD's and 16 INT's. I will admit he is having a pretty good year in Miami but come on. Manning, Brady, Pennington? Are you kidding me? Is someone seriously believe this?!
the thing is without favre we wouldnt be 4-3... pennington would have floated that last minute touchdown for a touchdown the other way
At this point with Pennington the jets would be better.. favre is def more exciting, but come on be fair. long term if favre starts to play better this may have been a great move for the jets, but so far, Pennington has been much better.. Does anyone give Pennington the excuses that favre gets?? didn't he have to learn the dolphin offensive in the same short time farve had to learn the jet offense??? do you hear anyone on sport center or any other show giving Pennington a learning curve? lets not forget the difference in talent level, the dolphins suck... hands down Pennington at the mid point in the season has been MUCH better than favre.
I agree w/ your statement. There's little doubt in my mind Chad was one of the best QBa in the league pre-shoulder injury but in typical Jets lcuk we finally had a young franchise QB but he's hurt.
OMG..... how any of you can read this fluff is beyond me... much of CP apparent success after 7 GAMES is the presence of OC dan henning. did the article mention that?? i think i posted this somewhere else the other day - one of the worst moves the jets made back in the days of the parcells-bradway transition was to allow henning to walk. jil
Yeah well you can't change the fact that there's been a series of injuries and he never had a season close to that 2002..........
Like when he helped our O in 2000? henning was great for us always helping us to big deficits then watching Vinny call his own plays and lead us back. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE GIVE CHAD ANY CREDIT????????
Finally someone who sees it right. He would be as good if not better than Brady if it wasn't for the injuries. There had to be a reason he was a first round pick even if he wasn't a gunslinger to begin with. And Brady just had a better supporting cast and never got touched until the Super Bowl.
Let's not go that crazy. Brady is special and THE biggest reason NE won 3 SBs, w/o him NE isn't anything special and despite a good record this year we are seeing the difference he makes. They were unbeatable a year ago and have been beaten up twice this year and close to a bunch of other losses. Brady is the best QB of this generation and as good as Chad was pre-shoulder injury he never would have been as good as Brady especially when you consider Chad had more offensive talent around him most of his Jet career here. Brady won a SB w/ Antowain Smith as his main RB.
I agree. WITHOUT the injuries, he would have been one of the greats. You all remember 2002. His first year, he might have been the best QB in the league that year. WITH the injuries he's still an upper echilon QB. We just never used him right.
Who gives a shit he doesn't qb for the Jets any longer. He wasn't that good when he was here and he isn't that good as a dolphin. This fanbase loves/embraces mediocrity, like no other. Pertinent to this thread
I think he could have been a top tier qb, but he's not because he's injury-prone. My prediction is that he's going to get better and regain some of his arm-strength with time (see Drew Brees). I wanted him benched last season and I would have liked to see us develop a new QB this season, but canning him for Favre was a mistake.
