What the fuck are you talking about?

The thread starter did not specify NFL coaches. He wrote "head coaches in any sport". Switzer was a big winner as a college head coach.

Let me clarify a few things. First off, I probably overstated the Edwards thing a bit. However, he is clearly not a great head coach. He took a good Jets team and slowly but consistently took them downhill. Then he took over a Chiefs team that was a perennial playoff team and made them into perhaps the worst team in football. The guy outright sucks as a coach. You can't really argue that.

As far as Nugent goes I like him. But if I need a game-winning kick he's not at the point where he inspires me. He can miss from anywhere and is certainly not a real threat as you get close to 50.

Other than these two clarifications I stick by my original post.

The #s don't agree as Jones & Leon are averging 4.6 YPC while Ronnie and Ricky are averaging under 4 YPC and our duo has 14 more yds despite 20 MORE carries.

Our OL has done a good job protecting Favre, many of his hits have been taken from holding onto the ball too long looking for the big play rather than taking what the D is giving him.

I din't say Chad was doing it by himself but he is the main reason Miami is doing better than expected while Favre is holding us back and there's not doubt Favre has much more talent to work w/.

Ginn has done nothing in his career until that game and the QB gets some credit for placinf the ball perfectly where it needed to go and for making the QUICK, correct read?

It is a fact that Chad is having a better year than Favre, Chad is healty and when healthy he has been bertter than favre this decade.

Chad has better coaching now but since we got rid of our "problem" w/ Herm's staff shouldn't Chad have had better coachiing w/ our staff than our previous staff? That sounds like a nice reason but they had 3 QBs to choose form w/ their coaching staff before they got Chad and they decided they needed an upgrade.

Actually som,e guy named BILL PARCELLS did it and he's the one who recommended it to Herm and who cares if he had someone watching the clock? The bottom line is the guy was successful here and I am one of the few Jet fans who appreciate the fact that he was successful here and the ONLY coach in our history to take us to 3 postseasons. I like watching my team compete in postseason.

I don't believe Getting rid of another staff will help us. I still see some positives from Mangini. I don't want to go back to the cycle of new HCs every few years. This is exactly what I talked about when everyone wanted Herm gone, Herm stabilized the HC position for 5 years which is an eternity in Jet years. It would be nice to have coach in here 7-10 years and develop some continuity. It took a guy like Jeff fisher many years before he won in tennessee(he wasn't over .500 his first 4 full seasons) then he hit another rough pacth from '04-'06 so they easily could have went in another direction but they stayed w/ him and it's paying off. I do not want to see a change in our HC, maybe some staff changes but I want Mangini to stay(despite what I'll probably be posting in the game thread today:smile:).

"I still see some positives from Mangini."

Ok, but they are to few in my opinion. He's appears too stubborn to make adjustments. And that's my opinion. The lack of adjustments coming out in the 2nd half is a long standing problem with this group.
I think the ST's is the worst of the lot. It took too many games before there were 2nd blockers outside on the punts, we were getting outrun by most teams. Who ever blew the fake kick for an easy 1st down should hang his head in shame. Too many other spots to pick on now as it's time to make some breakfast. Back to you tonight.

We have a great STs coach in Westhoff though, the STs have played poorly most of the year but that's the one guy on the staff I have no worries about although I think the situation w/ O'Dea is probably a little weird and that could have an effect.

I'm disappointed in Mangini as well I'm just not ready YET to give up on him. This team has 9 games to prove something to us, I am not confident they will do it but I think it can be done.
