This may classify as blasphemy, but in the Giants forum I frequent we used to have a saying about Eli. From 06-07, when everyone said how much he sucked and how Ben and Rivers were better. This saying was a glimmer of hope and it helped us through those frustrating times. I know modify it, and hand it over that it might serve you well...

    Gholston will be fine

I'd trust a former coach/scout/football scientists judgment more than my own or anyone on this board.

Impatient are we? Let him learn the nuances of the defense and then release him to show what he learned.

Everyone wants the high draft picks to come in and become pro-bowlers. Come on. Develop players.

Boy some of you see everything through green glasses. He was the 6th pick in the draft and he's hardly seen the field. That is not a good sign. Whether it's your first year, second year, or third year, if you're so bad you can play more than a few snaps a game, the chances of you becomming a superstar are not great. What you miss is that exactly what is happening is what several scouts and others saw prior to the draft. Gholston is bodybuiler disguised as football player, not the other away around.

and some of you try so hard to "be objective" that you end up being the opposite of the people looking through the green glasses. we simply have not seen enough of gholston to know either way at this point what he will become. now as far as your argument about him being so bad he cant see the field, i would give it some consideration if the two players that currently start at his position sucked or even happened to be a bit average. but this year the two players starting at his position are playing very well.

i just wish everyone would drop this for now. throwing a guy that raw onto the field would hurt a defense that is already struggling. i fail to see why it is such a bad thing for a player to come into the league and learn for a year or two. its ok for quarterbacks, why dont other players who need time to adjust get the same benefit?

now i know that certain people will never let it rest because right now it is a very easy thing to complain about, but im done with the gholston threads. this weeks gholston sucks/gholston will get better threads will be replaced with new ones next week. we will get see the same rehashed arguments as to why he sucks, and than the same rehashed arguments as to why those arguments are irrational will come out.

    It's funny cause it's true.

It's like the definition of "objective" got changed to "be as negative as possible, cause the bad is more likely to happen than the good...especially while things are "bad.""

Coming from someone that has no idea how to be objective, that vote of confidence is negligible.

lol, ill stick by what i said with or without a vote of confidence. im not saying that about everyone, in fact i find you to be one of the actual objective posters on the board, and i respect all your opinions.

I know how to be objective...the Jets suck because of the coaching and Favre is as infallible as we hear.

See? I can be just as super objective and analytical. I'm a hard hitting poster man.

A NON-objective person would say the Jets are a good team playing meh right now. A REAL objective person would be ready to square the blame on someone by now.

He won't be on the team in 3 years if he continues to play like he is now. He has 4 tackes (four) in seven games. He will have to play like Reggie White or LT the rest of the year not to be considered a total bust after one year.

If you read my posts you'll see they are not always negative, that I see some very positive things on the team. Being objective is seeing the good and the bad, not just one side or the other, because obviously both sides are there.

Gholston will rank right up there with Blair Thomas when all is said and done.

  20. Just another prime example of jet fans WANTING to label young players a bust w/o ever giving them a chance to develop. Why even bother drafting players...the fans have no comprehension of player development. Trade all the fucking draft picks away for "saavy" veterans.
