Before this happened + before the trade deadline I proposed that we trade for Larry Johnson because I thought he would make us a real contender in the AFC. Now it seems as if as soon as the offseason rolls around the Chiefs will look to move Johnson or just cut him.

I think that we could get Johnson for a bargain price and I think he is still worth acquiring - he is a true in-between-the-tackles runner who brings the big play ability that Thomas Jones does not. Not that Jones is not doing well for the Jets, but just imagine what Johnson could do behind our revamped line.

The Jets will have three 4th round picks for the 2009 draft (1 from the Kendall trade and likely one from the Robertson trade).

The Jets can probably get Johnson for a 4th in 2009 and a conditional pick in 2010 that could go as high as a 3rd rounder (let's say if the Jets won the SB and Johnson started every game). The Chiefs are looking to get rid of him anyway, so getting two draft picks would be a great deal for them.

I know that he has had his alleged off-the-field issues but he is not a bad guy and a change of scenery could be great for him and his career.

I'm curious to know what you guys think about the idea of bringing in Larry Johnson?

RBs tend to go to crap after the age of 28, we got lucky with TJ, but I doubt LJ will last as long. Maybe TJ has lasted so long because he didn't get a lot of carries when he was young, maybe its because he's a workout demon, maybe its because he's figured out that biceps are more important to football than the rest of us know.

Where was this moved to? And why?

This is about possibly bringing in a RB to help the New York Jets and I wanted to know what other Jets fans thought about it.

The title is why it was moved. Thats my guess.

If the title was, How about Larry Johnson as a Jet? Prolly would have stayed.

Lol for a minute i thought it said chris johnson was out for the season... anyways, i personally feel like we should just draft a running back. Preferably on day 1. I feel like running backs are a dime in a dozen, and that Larry Johnson is seemingly on the decline. I mean he hasn't really been blowing me away when i did see him play. I say we just stick with it and build through the draft.... plus we should definitely at least try to use leon washington a little more to see how good he actually is(though i doubt leon could carry the load due to his size).

You want to dump RB once they reach age 28. Their performance usually declines dramatically after that. See how poorly previous stars like Edgerrin James, Fred Taylor, Ahman Green, Deuce McAllister and Shawn Alexander are doing this season.

So Larry Johnson would be the LAST guy I'd ever want to sign. His talent is pretty much used up by now. And his bad character makes him a target for suspension by the league. Forget about it.

Johnson has been suspended for week 10. Additional disciplinary action could come later this season or in 2009 pending the outcome of his assault case.

Yep, it's a shame. His career is going straight down the crapper.
