Just got this really expensive looking packet from the Jets. Triple fold out with a 20 page booklet all on quality paper with info for the auction. Wow, the more I hear about this auction, the more ludicrous it sounds. Most of us know the details already but it's a min. $5000 bid. In a charmatic world Woody gets 30 Bids on the 2000 seats. I bet if that happens he will NOT give the seats back to the fans but find a way to still get those seats to the Trumps of the world. Did you actually think he paid all this money because he Loved the Fans? Bwah!
I take it no one has gotten it yet? Also, I believe this is an open auction. (Correct me if I'm Wrong) so that means the blue collar fan will be bidding against Corporations who want elite corporate seating? .. Oh My! hmy:
the whole thing is going to blow up like the yankees memorabilia show they had at msg today. saw an article on either espn or yahoo about how pitiful it was. it was espn http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3650499 i hope the ENTIRE THING blows up in their face. from those seats which i am sure they were hoping to get 20-50k for at auction, hmmm i wonder if they only get bids of up 8 grand what they will do, probably pull them off like the memorabilia people did. this whole thing really couldnt come at a better time.
I got mine in the mail saturday. Printed on some very nice paper. With all that money he spent on the nice paper and ads trying to sell these club seats he could have cut back on some more PSL's
economy is not going to be bad 4-5 yrs down the line. if i was a millionaire (and there are quite a few of them out there), i wudn't think twice before bidding for these seats.
has anyone bid today? I tried to get some seats for $5,000. I was outbid. However, there are plenty of seats still in the low $5,000 bid range.
Yeah this is completely different than the Yankees crap. Nobody was spending thousands of dollars on crap merchandise like Jose Molina's HR ball or whatever. It has no real value. The PSL's on the other hand, have great value, especially for a business or corporation. Jets tickets will be the hottest ticket in town, and no matter the state of the economy people are always going to want to go to games, so you can resell your tickets or give them to clients.
It looks like the seats are selling but not for nearly as much as the Jets were hoping I'd bet. Lowest pair of PSLs sold so far is *edit* $10,200. Cheaper than most of the premium seats with a set price. http://www.newjetsstadium.com/seating_chart.php Bet they wished they had gone with a set price on these, they got too greedy. My question is if they are having trouble getting people to pony up money for just 2,000 of the seats...Are they going to be able to sell all the other PSLs priced at $15k and up?
I think tonight loss is really hurting the bidding. I'm so sad right now I wouldn't pay $5000 for one of these PSLs.
Yeah, I agree with both points. I just went to check and there are TONS of seats still available. Did anyone look at the newyorkjets.com home page? It has Coaches Club stuff all over the page in red with a ticker and everything. Then they have a few notes on the game. Shows where the priorities are huh....
The PSL isn't that bad for the Coaches Club - with the 15 year payment plan; it's not CHEAP by any means, but it's not outrageous compared to what other PSL-based teams have done recently (or will do, see Dallas). However, $700 per ticket, per game is crazy. It makes it difficult to envision an aftermarket. I don't see how you could sell even 4 games in a year and try to cut your costs at face value. If they were smart, they would have had a lower per ticket price, which would have driven the PSL prices up (getting revenue in NOW), and then gradually raise the per ticket price over a number of years. Dum dums.
believe me....yesterday's loss isn't having any affect on the bidding.....i mean maybe a few "real" fans are giving this a shot like some in this thread, but I feel like those of us who really take these games to heart aren't the one's that will be seated in the ol Coaches Club in 2010
Exactly. It'll be the large corporations looking to impress clients. F them. I got this package last week, opened it, read it, threw it in the garbage. When my wife asked "What was that Jets thing you got in the mail? Did you come up for season tickets?" I explained to her what it was. Her response: "Good thing you didn't bother to ask me. I'd have kicked you out."
PSL bid for Jets' front-row seats surpasses $65G BY NEIL BEST October 20, 2008 While the Jets played in Oakland, their fans paid online. On the first day of an unprecedented auction of personal seat licenses for 2,000 choice locations in the new stadium, some fans ignored the weak economy - and the Jets' loss to the Raiders - and opened their wallets. The auction was conducted publicly on StubHub.com. The site and team did not release official closing prices, but it was possible to follow the bidding until the final seconds, and there were eye-opening figures among the early offerings. One pair of first-row seats at the 40-yard line had risen after 55 bids to $65,100 apiece just before the sale closed at 7:30 p.m. The Giants' costliest PSLs sell at a fixed price of $20,000. In addition to playing the one-time PSL fee, fans in the "Coach's Club" section also will pay $700 per game ticket. Four first-row seats beginning at the aisle on the 40 were bid up to $61,100 each. Four seats eight rows up at the 50 were at $42,400 apiece. Ten minutes later, four in Row 8 on the 40 were $22,100 each. Four second-row seats at the 25 were bid up to $28,000 in the final minute. Closing times were staggered throughout the evening, with the latest set for 1:20 a.m. The auction runs through next Monday. Most of the later bids were not as aggressive as earlier ones, with most falling in the $20,000 to $30,000 range.
