Why the reluctance to blitz?

Maybe I missed it, but I just don't understand why the Jets don't take more chances on defense?

They've got some confidence in their secondary now with Revis and Rhodes, and you're facing an unsteady quarterback with no real deep threats on the outside ...why doesn't Mangini (yes, Mangini) play more aggressively?

On the flip side, the safety blitz that started in San Francisco, and took about 10 minutes , was a really poor play, so maybe they're too dumb to blitz.

To even further your point, which I agree with completely, why is it that when you DO blitz, you do it with a safety who is f'ing 12 yards away from the line of scrimmage!!!!!

How moronic can gameplanning possibly get? I think if the Jets had a bad roster we'd be comparing this group to the Kotite administration.

EDIT: Sorry I skipped your last line when posting this... so yeah, I agree.

Its simple, its the same reason we didn't call any play action, or have any passing plays over 15 yards. This coaching staff plays not to lose. When you do that, you lose. When you play to win you put yourself in an opportunity to do so.

(edit: i dont count the stuckey catch which the d was in a soft zone and the pass was only 5 yards)

Probably because they get beat for a big play nearly everytime they do blitz.

WTF is our safety starting 12 fokken yards back off the line and doing a blitz?

Our DC is really weak. Horrible gameplan against a team that is a joke of the league with a "Tales From The Crypt" owner...

We made Tom Cable look like a great coach, except for the bonehead time-out call at the end of the game.

I said that in the game thread.

The CS waited to run the ball when it was too late and then continued to run it on passing downs/yardage

They did the same thing with the Blitz. The Raiders were in Max Protect often but It's about pressure and not letting him get comfortable in the Pocket.

    Look at the Ray-duhs.
We came out in a constant 4&5 wide set, they adjusted and started sending guys in on the blitz. It worked. They not only kept hitting Favre but they forced us to change our gameplan to plan B.
Unfortunately, This CS doesn't have a Plan B so they go into a shell to protect the PSL investment.

Our D was weak this game. If not for the Raiders shooting themselves in the foot with penalties, they would have put up much more points on us.

The Ray-Duhs did shoot themselves but in no way was our D weak today.

They were Solid just not Great.
