No offense but this is just another reporter who "expects" the Jets to run more of a 3-4, nothing official. Mangini has stated many times he will attack offenses with different schemes and put his players in the best situation to succeed. I too agree though that we will see more of the 3-4; will be fun to watch this transition, or lack of, in training camp...

Didn't realize Thomas was slated to start at OLB. Hope he can make it happen.

Also, I would think Hobson would be the one moved inside, not Barton.

well now maybe we don't draft one of those LB's, maybe we go tackle with the second round pick...so lets see Mario at 4, Mangold at 29, and either a tackle or if somehow Gabe Watson slips to the 2nd round pick we'd be set to fill all the open starting positions that have absolutely no one at this point.

Thomas will not start at OLB - guaranteed.

Something will happen where it will not be necessary. He may learn that position in TC just so he can see the field a bit but start-never.

Great optomistic thinking. A former first round pick finding some redemption wouldn't be a horrible thing. I hope he can pull it off, although I do agree it is highly unlikely.

Interesting read, even if purely speculation. Here's something in there I found really interesting:

Sounds like a "Super" DE to me

BTW: I think Thomas could be a pretty good LB. I always thought he looked a bit tall and lanky to be a stud lineman, but if he is allowed to use his quickness, without a OL catching him right out of his stance, he could be a pretty good force. I'd be curious to see it.

Willliams and Mangold in round 1 and either Carpenter or an OT in round 2 sounds sweet to me.

It's official that Jtrain has started yet another useless thread. Bravo...

When he ran the forty at the combine he ran a 4.4-4.5

Now he probably runs a 4.5-4.6 because he added some weight...

Bryan Thomas should be pretty decent at OLB, but I don't think he will be anything, but a decent sub...

There was also the part about having athletic LB's which fits Hawk.

He should have enough speed. In 2004 up at NewEngland he chased down Corey Dillon about 40 to 50 yds down field and caught him from behind. Thats good enough for me for speed.

I have absolutely no problem at all with grabbing Hawk. He would be my #2 guy at this point. If not Mario, then AJ.

Either way, it is starting to look like the #4 pick (if they keep it) will be used for defense.

My thoughts will come to fruition, when the jets run a 4-3 and a 3-4... You read it before from me before mangini was hired...

    Mangini is the man..
