They looked about the same, actually, like veteran QBs adjusting to new teams. The game came down to the last play.

This loss is on the offense. We have Brett Favre and we CAN"T SCORE!! We can't get first downs and keep our D off the field. Just like last week against the Pats, the Chargers played the whole damn game in our end of the field. I don't blame Favre for this. I think Schotty, the O line and the backs have to shoulder alot of the blame. SD has a dynamic offense. You can't leave your D on the field against them as much as we did and expect to win.

    SI's take:

Makes sense to me. Jury's still out. Like I expected it would be (and a lot of other knowledgeable fans on this board thought to, to their credit).

I think the people who are dong Chicken Little imitations are mostly those that just "assumed" Jets would go to SuperBowl this year after they got Favre et al. Their delusions are being splashed with the cold water of reality.

It's going to take some time, but the question is how long? Will it be too late before they get things together to make a run? Is this season another one down the drain and chopped up to rebuilding? Rebuild, rebuild - the heck are we building here, a monster?

The offense did not give up 48 points. (It gave up 14 I think). But still ... how about some qb pressure...

Partially true. The one consistent thing between last week and this week is how our D is torched on throws to the back or the slot WR on third down. This has to be fixed or field position isn't going to matter.

I don't buy this "too complicated" offense crap. It reminds me of that guy from Tennessee who was our OC in Herm's last season. His offense was "so sophisticated" that even CP couldn't get it. (He may be back at Tennesee now--not sure) Truth is, if you can't communicate your offense, then its probably due to it being a piece of shit.

I've seen this tactic with Math instructors who are "just too brilliant for their students". Bullshit--if you know something well, its easy to communicate it.

Nonsense is difficult to communicate because its just that, nonsense.

Favre was talking about that a few weeks ago. He said coaches have too much time to make football more complicated than it needs to be. He should know, he's been around longer than most of our coaches and he actually plays in the games.

I thought the playcalling was awful until we were down by 24, and FINALLY went to the spread offense and threw quick outs and slants and started really moving the ball. That is the offense that we should be seeing more often.

Yeah and the announcers said Penny outplayed Farve. So did the highlight show guys. Mariucci yesterday, "Pennington is a GREAT QB"

17-20 226 yards. 4 rushing touchdowns for Miami. Thought you couldn't run the ball with Penny cause he sucked so bad they put 11 in the box. It appears that just the Jets can't run with Penny. Or Farve for that matter. This team's problem isn't now and never was the QB.
