im missing the game. Actually I havent seen any Yankee ball in the last few weeks. Ive been super busy around gametime bc of school. What has he been doing that has been opening some eyes in the last few?
Bah. Jeter makes the last Yankee out in the old Stadium, and Molina is the last Yankee home run. Well, at least it's Mo time.
Just playing much better baseball. He looks far more prepared at the plate, and it's starting to translate into hits. His play in center has been great, and you missed an AWESOME play the other day. (I think it was Friday night.) He ran straight back, never slowing down, and leaped, stealing a homer over the fence. It wound up being the #1 highlight on Sportscenter. Even his arm is looking a little better lately, and that was my biggest knock on him. The dude can steal bases too. To steal a phrase from Jim Ross, he's "quick as a hiccup".
I think the last greatest game at yankees stadium that meant something to me was Game 7 ALCS 2003...Aaron Boone's bonechilling game winning HR to eliminate the Red Sux from the playoffs
Derek Jeter is the embodiment of everything Yankee fans consider to be a "Yankee". F all the haters. He is up there with the likes of Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and Joe D.
yeah consistency and clutch is all you need to win over fans. you dont have to be the best at your position to be the best with the fans. ex: Arod
I just caught the last inning, real nice. Jeter is THE Yankee. He ranks with the best. I'm no Yankee fan, far far from it, but you HAVE to respect Derek Jeter and what he has done.
I thought it was a great pre and post game ceremony... During the game it was great hearing the interviews...Whitey Ford is hilarious. Sad to see it close down, but it was electric...
Whitey was really funny. I really enjoyed that inning as well. I forgot to mention, I went to my last game at the stadium yesterday. It's been really hard getting excited for Yankee games the second half of the season, but I was amped for the game from the moment I got up in the morning. Normally as Yankees games end, me and my buddy walk to the left field escalators and watch from the windows to have a quick exit while still seeing the game, but we really didn't leave out seats yesterday and enjoyed our time. It wasn't too much fun getting out...it took us about 25 minutes between leaving our seats and exiting the stadium, probably because the only run that was scored was in the Bottom of the 9th, but still. I also thought it was really cool to have Bob Sheppard phone in the Yankees lineup today.
Sad day, bugs me I never visited Monument park. Felt strange not seeing Torre there. Glad they closed it with a win.
to repeat what a few have mentioned, having Torre not there was an unfortunate blow, but he's busy in LA. Likewise for Don Mattingly.
I'm glad Andy goty thw W and Marino the save, jeter was o for 5 but just the fact that he played after getting plunked on the wrist again Saturday was enough. I thought they could have done a better job w/ the pregame but I enjoyed the postgame. Eveen when they broke ground it seemed so far off in the future but time really does fly and it just doesn't seem right that this was the last game ever on the grounds of real Yankee Stadium. So next year we'll move out of the house that Ruth built into the House that george built. Hopefully they christen that Stadium the way they did the original.
Bittersweet finale. Glad they closed it with a win, sad this victory was meaningless. Also sad I didn“t make it to NY this year to have one last visit to the Stadium.
if the Sox lose their next 4 and we win out until friday we'll have a chance going into the final series:smile:
