Eagles | Team trying to trade up in the NFL Draft? Sat, 8 Apr 2006 13:39:08 -0700 Mark Eckel, writing for the Sporting News, reports the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be leaning to trading up in the NFL Draft. They currently sit in the No. 14 position. Their target appears to be Oregon DT Haloti Ngata. The 6-4, 340-pound Ngata would give the team a run-stuffing presence in the middle of the defensive line and could be a perfect complement to DT Mike Patterson. Up to the fourth pick may be too high for them, but I'm just putting it out there for you to hear. If they were to move up to #4, what would you make them give up?
Value chart would roughly equate to their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th for our 1st and 7th. This is assuming they draft in the 14th spot.
the 14th pick is worth 1100 points. the 45th pick is worth 450 points. the 76th pick is worth 210 points. the 108th pick is worth 78 points. - ALL OF THE EAGLES PICKS FIRST FOUR PICKS ARE WORTH 1838, barely equal to the fourth overall... the 4th pick is worth 1800 points.
They would probably have to trade. their 14 and next yr 1st or 1st 2nd and 3rd for our 4th overall and possibly more so they probably wont be a trade partner. by the way that trade value chart is good but the Atlanta-Denver trade didnt equal out.
That draft value chart is good and all but it is different for every draft. And some people value top 10 highers than 10-30 by alot. that atlanta-denver trade was. was Atl#15 for Den #29, 3rd rnd, 4th rnd and it doesnt equal out, it favors the Atlanta end. I dont have the values in front of me but I am sure it favors Atlanta by 200 pts which is a 4th rnd pick. Remember when we traded up to 4 it costed us a #12 and #21? or 22 and a 4th rnd pick
To bad the eagles wouldn't do it...I'm sure they are looking to move up to the 7th or 8th pick, not the 4th. The report did say they were targeting Ngata. No way he is going top 6.
The way the draft is shaping up, they may get him because Bunkley is pushing him hard to be the first DT taken and the teams that could use him might pass. 49ers, Packers, Raiders, Bills, Cardinals, Browns, Ravens
That was the point that I was looking for Ngata is not going to be picked at #4. If we give the Eagles #4 they are taking Williams/Hawk or trading with someone else and getting a lower pick then #4.
If we did do the trade with the Eagles I would want their 2006 #1, #2 and 2007 #1. No reason to get a bunch of their picks for this year we have enough lets see what we get and how they do and get some more help next draft. Think about how many good players are going to come out of one draft lets spread it out and see what is there next year. We are going to have a top 5 pick in 2007 and the Eagles #1 should be in the 20s so that would be another great draft for us.
Bingo. If they were targeting Mario or Hawk we might have been able to pull this off... but they would be pretty stupid to trade up to 4 when Ngata is pretty much guaranteed to be there at #6 (and the 49ers are interested in trading down). I think the first time when Ngata can realistically be taken is 6 and the first time he will likely be taken is 7. If they want to deal up they'd have to go atleast with 06 1st, 06 2nd, 07 1st for the #6 pick.
I think this point is moot since by all accounts, the Eagles wouldn't need to move that high if Ngata is the one they want. If the rumor is true, I'd expect the 49ers to be the team most likely to trade down since they have a ton of holes.
People pay way too much attention to the value chart. Teams rarely actually follow it. For example, in 2003 the Jets traded up for the 4th overall pick to draft a defensive tackle, just like the Eagles would in this scenario. They paid the #13 overall pick and the #22. Why then would it cost the Eagles the #14, the #45, the #78 and the #108 to do the exact same thing? No GM in their right mind would make that deal.
...that was my point I think it would take this years first, 2nd or 3rd rounder, and next years first
So instead of taking all those...take the first and the second rounder this year and then a first rounder next year (the Eagles are gonna tank AGAIN without TO)
I'd trade our #4 pick AND McCareins for the Eagles: 1st rounder 2nd rounder 3rd rounder 2007 1st rounder
thats an interesting trade... i actually like it. We could have Coles & Cotchery as our #1&2 receivers. And we would be able to pick up a lot of players and possible package our 2007 first rounders (2) to move up in the draft to get a QB (Brady Quinn)
Wow, you guys swear that everyone just wants your pick or something. The reality is that you guys got the snub. Not Matt and now way Bush. Yes Vince- but his stock has dropped becuase of the retarted media and anyone who would want him can hold their breath and sit still (Radiers, Lions, Cards, etc) becuase they are also top 10.
