Favre, Woody, Faneca, Stuckey, Franks, Keller, Jenkins, Pace, Gholston, Lowery...This Jets team of 2008 is improved! Thats all I can say! These players mentioned above may just be the players that help this Jets team make the playoffs here in 2008! What an offseason...What an offseason! Then we have players such as Coles, Cotchery, Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Baker, D'Brickishaw Ferguson, Mangold, David Harris, Revis, Rhodes, Ellis, Coleman, Barton and Bryan Thomas...All of these players are solid, all of these players from previous years can make plays, all of these players can be tough to beat...It's the offseason players that we added that can help these guys get over the top! What an offseason and what a way to start the 2008 season! We simply dominated the Dolphins offensive line, these guys had no chance to rush the ball against this front 7! All in all...We have some veteran players and we have a lot of young explosive players who can help this Jets team win MANY of games here in 08! Remember this 2006 team that went to the playoffs under Mangini? This team is better! This Jets team may just be the best Jets team we have had in 10 years, since 1998...Im telling you, this will be a special team and for week one...I like what I seen!
Gholston has all the talent in the world, he's only a rookie and still needs to get his feet wet...If Bryan Thomas can get back to the Thomas of 2006, man oh man...With Pace on the other side with Gholston coming in to spell relief...This Jets pass rush can be nasty! And as far as Lowery goes...It looks like we only need a Safety next to Rhodes because Revis and Lowery look like ball players!
My thoughts: We almost lost to the Miami Dolphins. A win is a win, but coming very close to losing to the Miami Dolphins should not be the case for a team whose fans think it will make a playoff push. Lowery was also very impressive even with the one-on-one TD against him.
I think this game would have been a cakewalk if Pennington would have been our QB and the Dolphins would have still had Josh McCown. Favre's arrival will pay big dividends in the weeks to come, but this game was never a gimme in my eyes. I'm glad we got out of town with the W.
Man you are looking at this game with rose colored glasses. This is what I saw. 1. Pace, Lowery, Harris, Jenkins and Revis--wow and if I am missing someone its not intentional. 2. Kicking game sucks. 3. Favre is ready to play and that bomb was classic--Cotchery will have a great year. 4. Carrol made a great open field tackle on special teams that save 15-20 yards at least and maybe the game. Never played like that in GB. 5. Coles had an easy catch on that slant that should have been a touchdown in the 1st half. 6. Gotta like Stuckey and Baker. 7. 3rd and 7 and the coach calls for a run? With a qb that is 15 for 22 and a first down ices it and we don't have to worry about the heroics of Pennington--too conservative. All in all a win and perhaps this team when it gels it will be a contender but overall we need to improve
