I am a diehard Jets fan moving to Chicago for the time being for grad school. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows of a good Jets friendly bar in Chicago. The Jets out of town section on their site only lists one bar and doesn't give any information on it. Thanks
Dude, they didn't even have a Jets friendly bar in Syracuse. I had to go down to the bars on marshall street every weekend to watch the games on the little screens because the shitty Bills were on CBS up there. Good luck in chi town.
I wanted to bump this thread. I am also a diehard jets fan in Chicago and want to try to get something started this year.
OK, I've lived in Chicago (now in the burbs) for nearly 13 years now. There are no exclusive Jets bars that I've ever found, Chicago has a chip on its shoulder about New York, the whole second city thing, but there are a ton, I mean a TON of sports bars in Chicago that will have every game on each Sunday. It's a huge sports town. College football is particularly big because so many big ten students wind up getting jobs in Chicago, but pro football is huge too. Depending on where you've moved, it will not be hard to find a bar that has all the games. Some ideas: -Tailgaters in Lincoln Park, on Lincoln Ave. -Cubby Bear right near Wrigly Field -Hi Tops right near Wrigly Field -If you like tourist traps, the ESPN Zone on Ohio street will have a TV on with the game -Lucky Strike, there are two, but the one down town just north of the River on Columbus -Joe's on Weed Street That should get you started...
Thanks, a bunch of my friends are Giants fans and they are using Trinity on Diversey and Halsted as there bar.
I went to the ESPN zone on OHIO for the playoffs one year while I was in town. It was when the Packers played Seattle and Hasslebeck threw the pick 6 in OT. That was my first time in an ESPN zone, and I did not think it was a "tourist trap". I have also been to Joe's on weed Street. Many Different Fans in there. Also, Hawkeyes in Little Italy.
Chicago Bar Sunday 9/7 For all fans here in Chicago and apparently there's a few of us, it's time to make a bar a Jets bar rather than looking for one. I will be headed to Duffy's this Sunday at 11:00am and planting myself in front of a TV to start the first Sunday off with an enjoyable all you can eat brunch for $16 with Mimosa's. Please come and join me, I will be wearing a white Jets golf shirt or my Emerson Boozer #32 throw back Jersey. Denis
I've got family in Chi Town, and I'm yet to visit. Since I love cold weather, I may take a road trip up this Season. Duffy's it is. Oh, and you best be pounding the mimosas when you wear The Boozer jersey. I've been looking for that throwback for waaaay too long. Cheers!
Will's Northwoods Inn is a terrific Packers bar, and I bet they will show the Jets whenever it doesn't conflict with the Pack. You might want to check that out some week, it's an incredible scene for Packers games. On Sep 14 the Jets play right after the Pack. 3030 N Racine
First of all, you're going to love Chicago! It's a great place to live!! Much fun!!! Good schools too! Post again if you want to learn about the different neighborhoods. I lived there for several years and I concur--no exclusive Jets bar. Jetfighter named the ones I went to (preferred Cubby bear) in the city itself. In the burbs' there's a couple good places with similar names: The one I really liked was near Elmhurst called "Champs"--they have darts and pool too--.There's another franchise called "Champps" thats ok too but its further away from chicago.
Good luck in Chi Town. Da Bears, Da Bulls and Da Cubs...thats it. No one else matters and they are homers for life and very loyal. It don't matter win or lose, unlike us they don't blast their teams.
I'm in southern Indiana, only 5 hour drive from Chicago. Come on down! I have to drive that boring I65 trip at least 6 times a year.
bump Any Jets fans in Chicago watching the game tomorrow night at a bar someplace? I'm really tired of watching these games alone surrounded by Bears and Pack fans and them wondering why I get so worked up!
I think I'm going to be too much of nervous wreck to watch this next game around people but maybe a playoff game or definitely games next season. Up until last month I was living in University Village downtown and watched every game at Morgan's on Maxell. I've been going there for almost 2 years now. I moved in to my first home in Oak Park just prior to the last Buffalo game, I didn't think I could make it to the bar in time for kick-off so I panicked and got the NFL ticket. So I paid $200 fto watch just 4 games, ultimately 2 of which (IND and CIN) ended up being nationally televised games...lol.
1) Anyone meeting up anywhere for the game on Sunday? 2) Do people actually go to Butch McGuire's? It's listed on the website as a "Jet-Friendly Bar".
Depends on which ESPN zone you go to. Ironically, the one at Disney boardwalk in Orlando is great, and with fans from all over it is alot of fun. On the other hand, the one in Baltimore sucks. They wasted so much room for a family style dining area that tere tend to be lines to get in most weekends. Plus, they have a $10 minimum per hour per person rule (which is fine for me, because I'll eat/drink that no problem) but sucks if you've got the wife or DD (designated driver) wit you.
