That's very true. The one thing that could offset some of that is the Jets offense. They might actually be able to move the ball this season giving the D much needed rest. Getting "R&R" will definitely be the name of the game Sunday though.
I don't know if the D will be all that tired. I am expecting Jenkins to shut things down on 2-3 third and shorts and put the offense back on the field. I learned from watching Brown and Jackson how devastating and exciting a bona fide pro bowl run stopper can be. Look for the O Line to be pooped and they won't be complaining. Jets by 2 scores.
I got one word for you...Cohesion. This team will put it together as the game progresses and run away with it late. that's my prediction. Ted Ginn cant catch every ball thrown out there so lets see captain check down be his own undoing.:finssuck: (we need a Chad sucks banner in the widget box)
Win first, respect later. Everybody made moves to improve in the off-season. Some poorly rated teams will undoubtedly emerge as contenders while favorites will fall by the wayside. No game is a "given". The Fins lost 6 games by 3 points last year. If the ball had bounced their way they could have had a better record than the Jets. This team can't afford to take any game for granted
Experts my ass those douchebags get it wrong 99% of the time. Jets have to win to prove them wrong not that hard.
Respect is earned on the field, not it some expert's column or in meaningless power rankings. When will some of you realize this and stop caring what people think of the Jets? Care about what happens on the field. That is all that matters.
We have alot to prove, it's not an insult to think we can lose this week. The last 5 1-15 teams have won their season opener the following year, both us and Miami have new QBs BUT Chad had some exposure to Henning's O and changing systems while favre had been in the same system 16 years and Miami is at home in the So. Fla heat in the summer. It wouldn't be a shock if we lost, I expect to win but Miami is also much improved and they have a shot if they can control the game on the ground.
An opening day game should never be considered as a 'gimmie'. It is up to the team, however, to prove all these 'experts' wrong. Respect is being earned.
actually we are playing two games sunday. fins and pats. we have to beat the fins without showing anything to the pats. it's like a 5th preseason game with the pats coming to town next week on opening day. since our advantage against the pats is on the d-side, look for manginin to keep our defense vanilla against the fins. this means chad will have plenty of opportunities to move the ball. we will play to beat the fins on bretts arm and TJ's legs, keeping our blitz packages for the pats the next week. this will make it a closer game the normal. jets 45 miami 0 jets 20 pats 17
Amen. I couldn't care less what other people think of the Jets. It's what they do on the field that matters.
Exactly. We need to win for respect. No matter what any of the experts say its all out the window come 1pm Sunday.
If it's fare to think of Miami as the 1-15 from 07 even though we aren't that team anymore, it's fair that the Jets are though of as the same 4-12 team as last year, even though they are not. With that said, it's a division game and both teams can win the game like it or not. I know you want everyone to say the Jets are 10 times better then the Dolphins, but it's week one and both teams are 0-0. This isn't week 14 and the Jets are 13-1 and the Dolphins are 2-12. I think both teams have to prove what they have before any of us know for sure what to think. It's also in Miami, that doesn't help the thinking about the outcome for the Jets. I personally think the Jets will win, but I don't think the success the Jets have had over the Dolphins the last few years will continue much longer.
As long as the O-Line holds this apparently physical new D-Line, Favre will embarrass the joke of a secondary the Fins have. Our running game has to consist of a lot of LW. TJ should only come in for small yardage, Washington owns the Fins - he has to get the bulk of the carries.
