Saints Just traded their starting left tackle Gandy to the Falcons for a Free safety and a draft pick. do you guys think this means they are going to draft D'brick Ferguson? IMO, i hope they do so we dont. I want to draft Leinart or Young. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2399461
Sounds like they are definitely targeting Brik. good for us...now we have a better sense of who may be there when we draft.
I think they'll def take D'brick now. I don't see Payton's first pick as a head coach being someone on the defensive side of the ball.
I'm actually happy about that. I would rather grab Mario Williams at 4 assuming Lienart is gone (I'm not buying into the Tennessee smokescreen), and Marcus Mcneil at 29. He's huge (6'8 332) and can play on either side. IMO that would be a dream of a first round.
Thnak God!!! Brick is not the best Tackle prospect in the draft anyway, although the Media machine will drive you to believe that... Ellis
I say this is good news. If either Young or Leinart fall to #4, we've got to do it. It may be the only chance in the forseeable future to use a singular, high-round pick (without trading away the farm to get there) on a possible franchise QB. I don't see Leinart being there, but Young is a strong possiblity. Screw the Wonderlik score, interview the guy (which is what we'll be doing soon) and pick him if he's there. The chance won't come again.
I don't know. Remember the draft is all about postering, positioning, and smokescreens. NO has been rumored to be trying to trade down in the draft with no takers, and the Jets being the most likely trading partners. Maybe they thought the Jets' FO was targeting Brick. This could be a move to try and force the Jets to trade up for the player they want. Remember opponents of taking Brick with the 4th (not me) keep saying there are plenty of OTs in this draft, so Brick is not a good pick. They could still take Williams, and pick up a LT in the 2nd round. If they are doing this, it would be a huge gamble, but I have seen stranger things happen in the draft.
Mario Williams could be our cornerstone of the franchise...he would be a perfect fit because he has the speed to play DE in the 4-3 and and the tremendous size to play the 3-4...I would be happy with the pick. Then what do you do at 29? A solid pass rushing OLB could be available at 29 like Bobby Carpenter or Thomas Howard...do we pass on defense at 29 since we went D at 4? It would be tough to go defense with both pick because we need some guys on the offense, but I guess the 35th pick and those 2 3rd rounders could go to the offense... Its an exciting time... Jets @ Tennessee Week 1 "Matt Leinart takes the snap...he drops back...OOOOOH! He gets blind sided by Mario Williams!" Not bad
Don't get me wrong, I think Williams is going to be awesome and I'd love to see him in green and white but I also think we need an offensive tackle more.
honestly i'd rather hear, "leinart drops back, looking...FIRES TO THE ENDZONE FOR COLES..CAUGHT!..TD JETS!!!"
For what it's worth, Sean Payton was just on NFL Network and said that Jamaal Brown will be moved to LT. It could be a smoke-screen.
Hahahahahaaaa... I must say, I do like that scenario. I can actually picture it in my mind.... But what about... "Touchdown! Matt Leinart to Laveranues Coles in the end zone! Leinart's first NFL touchdown! And just think... they could have had him in the draft and passed on him!" LOL!
Well you know I would like that more, but it doesn't seem like we are trading up so those are just pipe dreams...
If anything they are saying they are going to move him to LT so people think they are going to pass on Brick...either way its pretty obvious they will choose from one or the other.
