the point was that Coles is a bad example to compare Bush to in terms of why they are upset. TE was stretch, but its the only thing i could think of in terms of position switch that was relevant. Randy Moss on the Raiders and Coles is a better comparison. If Brandon Jacobs was moved to FB, then its a good comparison. You also posted that Bush is still a tailback, so the thread is moot.
Why? Because Kiffen flip-flopped? Bush was pissed off, Kiffen realized he fucked up, so he changed his mind. Bush still has to be pissed.
The Lofton comment was a joke, lighten up kid. A game changing playmaker was a need regardless of position. You'll see that soon enough. You're saying they shouldn't have taken him because they have injury prone Fargas and unproven Bush? That makes sense how? Were you against getting Favre becasue the Jets had a proven QB in Pennington? And besides, why the hell do you think the Jets wanted him so bad, not to mention (conservatively) half of the people on this board? Javon is "wait and see" as far as I'm concerned, looked good this week. And I don't know who your sources are but Hall's cast will not be on "most of the season" It will probably be off before the first game.
What's so funny? LOOK AT THE HEADLINE! Kiffin reverses field on Bush's move to fullback http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/08/27/SPL312IIHO.DTL
The biggest problem with the Raiders, as I see it, is that there is nobody in charge. Davis won't fire Kiffin because he dowsn't want to pay him. Kiffin won't quit because he wants the money and probably knows another job won't come easy. So who is running the team? Davis makes decisions, Kiffin makes decisions. It appears Davis may make some that Kiffin changes. For all we know with this, Davis made Bush the FB and Kiffin reversed it. It really is a train wreck out there and it will never get better until that whole thing changes.
The SF Chronicle is the only sorry ass paper that ever reported it as a "position change"! Everyone else called it what it was; a 245 pound RB taking some snaps at FB due to an injury to his teammate! So of course that's their headline, they're covering their ass and you're right there with them.
Don, you're not completely wrong on this although the press tends to sensationalize a lot of things that happen in Oakland. Any time someone reports what Davis is thinking take it with a grain of salt because he is on an island and talks to very few people. As a 30 plus year Raider fan, I've seen it all. But I have to point out that I heard all of this "they'll never win with Davis" stuff back in the mid 90's, Mike White-Joe Bugel era too. Bottom line is when he's hired good coaches they've won and when he's hired bad coaches they haven't. I think Kiffin is a good coach but he will need to get off to a good start this year to get things rolling. And that's a shame, he shouldn't have that much pressure on him right now. See, I write reasonable responses to reasonable posts!
This is why I respect Kiwi for moving to LB. He very well could have said the same thing when we decided to move him to LB, especially having an above rookie year. Kiwi, for all we know, could hate playing LB, but hasn't said a word about it, and said whatever is best for the team.
Ah not its not he's played DE ever since HS. http://bceagles.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/kiwanuka_mathias00.html
I was talking about the original move from DE to LB. He could have came out and said, I was a first round pick at DE, and moving to LB is a waste. He could have ranted and raved, but he took the move in stride, and said anything to help the team. Now he is moving back, and he could have said that this team needs to make up their mind and pick a position, but he didnt. So I wish more players handled it that way, even if they disagree rather than going to the press and using the media as a forum to display your anger.
Agreed. On Saturday there will be hundreds of players who would have happily changed positions for the chance to make a team.
