    Greetings all,

First time poster so bear with me on this one as it is a "rather long post" ...

Being a European (I'm from Denmark), all games are sent very late in the night/morning, so for most I have to "tape" the games and watch them the following day - Being that NFL doesn't get that much attention in Europe I can also "avoid" information from the news media in Europe before I see the actual game (unless its a play-off game, in which case I stay up all night)

Also bear with me, as english is not my primary languages, so spelling errors will almost certainly occur ... ><

    Now for the reason of the post;

One of the things that to me is very "appealing" is the level of "Fairness" in the NFL, i.e the draft system, salary caps etc. Especially the draft system combined with the salary cap ensures, in my view, that the level of competiveness (sp?) of each team is "intact" from season to season, regardless of the standings in any previous season ...

Something which, especially, soccer teams lack in Europe. Any teams with "enough" funding is able to, for most parts, "buy" themselves to success. This reason is also why there are only a few select "Top Teams" in all of Europe, because they have near to "unlimited funds", when it comes to aqcuiring players they want. This exact reason it also why, to me, Soccer in Europe gets less and less "appealing" for me to watch ...

I love watching the NFL games, one thing that is particularly interesting from my point of view is the "level of tactics" involved in each play. Also the fact that the referees stopping the game if they have any doubts about a ruling is fascinating (opposed to soccer here in europe), combined with the chances the head-coach of each time also has to "challenge" a ruling is something that we in europe miss alot in other various sports-games.

One thing, though, which I find interesting about "american football" is the "hype" every team, every fan (for most parts) is giving one single position over most other on any team, is the QB position. Granted its thrilling to see a QB "rocket" a ball down field to a receiver ending up in a TD, but to me I find the line backers to be probably the most "underrated" positions on the field. And they are not getting the attention they deserve (in my view).

Having said that, one of the reasons I became a football fan was watching my very first game of football visiting relatives in the states, and I got "sucked in" instantly. Granted it took me quite a long time to understand the concept of the game, especially the various plays (and Madden NFL on PS2 actually helped me alot in terms of understanding the intricacies(sp?) of the aspects of the game itself) and formations. But as I understood more, the more fascinating the game became to me.

I don't have a "certain" team I root for especially, since its the game itself I find intriguing, but I do have a few "favourites". Some may call me a "bandwaggoner" or whatelse, but to me its the game and the people that play that "thrills" me, not some certain team (all though I do have a 2 favourite soccer teams in Europe, and 3 teams - now 4, I like more than others in the NFL ... haha).

Sorry for the long post, and also a little "warning", - I may gonna "bump" up some threads in order to attain the "10 post min" to be able to see links on this forum ... :) (so please have a some patience as I'm just a "Euro-Thrasher" :p)

And yes, I'm very fascinated with Brett Favre, because the very first game I ever attended was at Lambeu Field in Wisconsin ...

Thanks for reading and again sorry for the length :)

    Best Regards

    Ffan

Also note that we really do value true international posters on this board and you guys do add alot, but your screen name is so nondescript that it needs to be changed.

Perhaps something stressing the Denmark connection and your love of football.

I think Kelly is from Sweden and I wonder where she has been. Haven't seen her lately.

Thanks for sharing. Glad to see this sport has the appeal in europe that it has in the states. The more you watch, the more you understand, the more you love this game. I don't know if you had the chance when you went to the Greenbay game, but if you didn't you should try tailgating then next time you visit the states. I think you'd enjoy it.

Eh, I'm stingy. I wanna keep this sport purely American. Keep this amazing sport to yourself eh? And you can make your point without all the Apostrophe's. It's gotta be a pain in the ass inserting them all in.

By the way, if you like the Jets - You'll also love the Bengals, Lions, Cardinals, and Browns.

    Jhtj ...

Naw - it doesn't take more time, as I use both hands (and all 10 fingers) to write, and I can write pretty fast ... (don't know what you call that technique in the states ?)

Writing with the computer is called "typing".

And you are right that using "quotation marks" is faster than using bold or italics after the fact. Don't worry about it, he is just being picky.

So there is this matter of a poster who posts on this board named Kelly. This poster puts up pictures of a hot blond girl and claims to live in Danderyd (sp?) Sweden. Some on this board believe it is her. Others think it is a 15 year old guy living in his mom's basement in the United States.

Perhaps you would be interested in confirming or denying the true identity of the poster known only as "kelly"?

I heard KOZ may even be up for paying your expenses...

    - Well ... I don't know the "Poster", but the mod's on this site could easily "Trace" him if they wanted to ... (or give me mod rights and I'll trace it! haha - Just kidding)
