believe it or not.word has it that he jets are high on charles missant who is playing in europe.they saw his potential when they drafted him as a free agent out of western michigan.as of now he has bulked up to 305 lbs. and he runs a forty in 5.10.he is exceptionally strong and can hold his own against the heavy weight defenses in the nfl.the jets know more then we do.so lets see what transpires in the draft.

We didn't draft him. We signed him maybe as a free agent out of college. But we didn't draft him. He was just a pickup.

I have seen him play and he is good! Alsao SNELL is an OG on the same team as MISSANT and he is very good!

I would be very concerned if we started the season with Missant or Katnik starting anywhere on the o-line.

I trust Tangini and their opinion on players cause we have no other choice but if Katnik or Missant are starting we are in deep....

Were we in deep when Brandon Moore started? Were we in deep when Wayne Chrebet started? Just bc they are undrafted does not mean they are not good. It is plain foolish to write someone off simply because of the way in which they were acquired. Sometimes all it takes is some maturity and coaching.

I am pretty sure we are worried not because someone is an undrafted FA, but because they are playing in NFL Europe right now. Maybe they can prove to us that they are worth the 53 man roster before we pencil them in as starters.

Well when players start showing up for mini-camp we will know a bit more...

I don't know who this missant is, so if someone can pull up a bio, it would be greatly appreciated.

  12. I see Missant as a quality back up type. He's very strong and has good technique, but lacks the athleticism to be a long term starter. I havent seen any of Katnik but have heard very good things. Most likely Katnik and Missant will be battling for the back-up spot behind a center we will draft.

Watch out for Issac Snell however. The guy has starters ability and is insanely athletic

At this stage of the game "being high on a player" has as much to do with smokescreening for the draft as it actually does with our CS making honest evaluations.

Maybe we can trade down. I don't like being this high on the board... it's exciting come draft day, but it ends up being disappointing a lot of times because the player you get only has a 50/50 chance of living up to their draft position.

I bet whoever we get at 29 will be better than our #4. It always works like that.

Exactly. The way I see it, if Mangini thinks these guys can play then I'm all for throwing them on the O-line.

We possibly have two very young o-linemen that our head coach is high on. How can that be considered a bad thing? At the very LEAST they will provide us with much needed depth.

Katnik can also play guard. IMO that's a huge plus.

Any player that gets assigned to NFL Europe is NOT in the teams short term plans. As soon as Kavka went, I knew he was in trouble.... and sure enough, he's not even a starter over there! They won't risk injury to a player they hope to use in the short term. Note: They did not send Katnik.

IF Magini thought they could play... My ass... if he thought they could play they would not be assigned to NFL Europe, so that towards the end of the season they could have dead legs. The guys over there are PROJECTS. I'd rather not go into this year with three NFL Europe guys playing on the O-line. Somehow, that just doesn't exemplify "good football team" to me.

Ellis, on the contrary, if they send them to NFLE it is bc they think that they CAN play and want to get them extra coaching and game time. I think that 3 NFLE guys starting on our line be too much too. But that won't be the case since we only have 2 spots that are completely open. Chances are maybe one of these guys will see playing time, if any. Just don't write them off bc they are free agents or NFLE guys. We have done will with these types of players ie Ryan Young and Brandon Moore.

If you would have read the rest of my post you would see that it made sense.

You're not willing to use these guys (nfl europe or not) if the coaching staff is convinced they can pull their weight?

I'm not saying "lets definately start these guys", I'm saying I trust Mangini's judgement. If he thinks they're good enough to get the job done (in any capacity) I'm fine with that.

We will address the O-line on day one of the draft (just hope it's not with the 4th overall) and rightfully so. IMO, if we've also got some youngins that can contribute in some fashion, that's bigtime plus.
