Didn't get the see the game, but how did the kid look at CB? Do we have a new starter on our hands or does he need to start as a nickle back?

    Lowery > Miller or Barret

He didn't make any outstanding plays but played pretty well. He was in as early as the second defensive series. I'm putting my money on him starting week 1.

He looked solid. I think that he will be our starting CB by the mid-season mark unless, the other two pick it up a few notches.

Lowery is better than Miller and Barrett.

Thus far it appears he has better reactions and coverage ability.

Well, whoever starts, please no more soft coverage. I hate it when I see a cornerback lined up more than 7 yards off the receiver.
Barrett frequently provides a huge cushion for receivers and it's a big reason for his struggles. Most of it is coaching. Obviously, they like Barrett playing soft. This practice needs to stop.

Yes, it's coaching. He plays soft because if he plays tight he continually gets beat deep.

Then Barrett shouldn't be starting. The Jets have to stop playing sissy football. They have probably fixed the line problems with the additions of Jenkins, Faneca, and Woody, but the conservative pass defense scheme is not the answer. The CBs should be allowed to play more aggressively. Tight coverage works out better in the long run than soft coverage.

I'm not sure if I've heard Darrell Revis' name mentioned once this pre-season. It's all about Miller or Barrett or Poteat or Lowery. Don't get me wrong I understand that #2CB is where the weakness lies but I'd be interested to hear how people think Revis is doing in coverage in preseason/training camp??

I said it in the original Dwight Lowery thread, I was at first like WTF? Who is this kid? then I learned about his time at SJS and we talked to a guy who he worked with in preparation for the NFL, i believe the Strength and Conditioning coach at SJS, who gave great details on Lowery, and I decided then that I would rather have had lowery than Branch. I am pulling for this kid and fully expect him to be starting by week 6.

I would imagine Lowery is the opening day starter, he seems seasoned beyond his young age. I think Drew Coleman is shaping up to be a nice nickel back too. Our secondary should be pretty good, especially if we get the kind of pressure like we did last night.

miller got hurt last night (left foot or ankle).

lowery looks A LOT like barrett (pre-snap). plays soft and starts back peddling just b4 the snap. i assume for the same reason, not to get beat deep.
