I noticed it when it happened too, a thing of beauty indeed.

i was looking at that sack. was that a designed screen? Because i saw faneca mangold and moore all come off their blocks and head towards the open field. I'm just wondering who's fault that was. I know leon missed the block but was he supposed to be heading out for a reception?

I completely missed this. I was following Keller the entire play and even tho Brett looked like he wanted to go to Bubba first, I saw Keller get open just as he went a little off the screen.

That is a thing of beauty though. Faneca first gives Mangold some help by bumping the tackle, and then comes back to focus on Gayson Taylor and laying him the fuck out. Let's hope this carries over deep into the season.

I noticed it when it happened too. I was watching Faneca on that play because I thought we were going to run the ball there.

I also noticed it when it happen. Taylor looked really bad the entire game. Neither Brick nor Woody had trouble with him.

I'm almost positive it was a designed screen. Washington got caught up in the d-line and Favre had to take the sack.

It was definitly set up as a screen, Faneca, Moore and Mangold were already on their way out to the flat and Washington turned around and was ready to catch the ball as soon as he got out, but it was too late.

I'm telling you, we're gonna have a solid unit this year. Our running game seems to be getting better as well.

Somewhat, but neither Jones nor Washington consistently run through the hole they're supposed to. I know this isn't essential, but Leon appears to try and bump thigns outside when he doesn't need to, and Jones runs right into tacklers (or maybe the holes are bad).

The Giants will be a very good test on the O-line.

without a doubt, there is a physical improvement on the OL, but I think a heavy contribution to a solid line will come with this mentality.

"If I let this Hall of Famer of a QB get sacked tonight, The highlights will be played over and over again, and i will jeopardize my chance of being Favre's favorite lineman. I ain't letting that happen to me!"

I strongly believe that Favre makes them "want to" stick out their necks to protect him.

I agree. I would add that the line isn't really blowing anyone off of the ball, just kind of holding ground. A few runs for the Giants last night had huge holes where the line created a few yards push past the line of scrimmage before the back was even touched. But at least 4ypc should be sufficient to take some pressure off Brett.

I saw the play, but what's the big deal? He blind sided a guy who was engaged with someone else and basically not invovled in the play. I mean I like anything that hurts Taylor, but I'm not thinking it was a great play by Faneca or anything.

I didn't notice Faneca or Mangold, but I'm pretty sure Moore did not come off his block and head toward open field. He was engaged in a block. The defense overloaded their left side (offense's right). Washington was the only one there to take on the extra rusher and he didn't.

Yeah, that was pretty much how I saw it too. Brick was the one that held him up, Faneca blew him up basically when the play was downfield to add insult to injury. Not that this is bad when we are talking about Jason Taylor though.

nobody said it was a great play. it was great to watch it being that the subject was Jason Taylor. Ask any quarterback, it hurts more getting knocked out when you least expect it.

Besides, imagine Brick lining up on Jason Taylor the very next play provided that it wasn't a TD, and Faneca not minding his coverage, stares down Taylor as well.

It was no tremendous feat, but I love to see that kind of take no prisoners attitude in the trenches. Faneca brings some meanness to our o-line that it was sorely lacking last season.

It's also the type of thing that can contribute to a d-line wearing out over the course of game. A tired opposing d-line in the 4th quarter is a great thing.

Yes, I think he brings back a lot of attitude and leadership that this OL has been lacking since Mawae's departure.
