I don't doubt that he was there for MOST but in aninterview in '98 he said he was there for all and unless he was sitting in different seats I know he wasn't there for all b/c I was. In '91 vs. Buf I sat right near him and I always checked to see him after that game, most games he was there but in the dark days I didn't see him after october except for that '96 season ender against miami who always draw well b/c of the rivalry.

I appreciate what he does, I don't think that makes him a better fan but I do appreciate what he does and I know the Jets were paying him a few years ago(or they were giving him his seats for free) and I'd be ok w/ them doing somethign to waive his PSL fees b/c he does more than the average fan at the games and that Stadium won't be filled w/ passion like it has been in the past b/c alot fewer real fans will be there so we'll need Ed to get the crowd as loud as possible.

I am not the biggest Ed fan, but the chants are definately better when he starts them. At the very least they are louder and definately more organized. It was even better when they started putting him on the jumbotron.

They only thing that I was not crazy about was when he started going into different sections to start the chant. You would think that if he was really into watching the game, he would stay where he was, and not take the time to navigate through the stadium.

He is the best guy to lead us to our Jets chant. It was dead last year, even for the home opener. Jets' plan was stupid and there was little or no response to others Jets chants.

Is there any news on Fireman Ed? We need him back this season!

Why don't we have a poll to determine who really cares about fireman Ed?

    Not a bad point.

    I hate those pink jerseys.

 This is an even better idea! Just screen the chick first for some level of attractiveness. I volunteer to manage the screening!

This reminds me of a Jets chant thread last year where someone recommended that they have the flag girls take off their clothes or something as a sure way of getting the crowd fired up.

Does anyone know what kind of compensation Fireman Ed receives from the Jets? I remember when they went to Denver to play the Broncos in the playoffs years ago seeing a short on ESPN where Fireman Ed was walking down the street in Denver with a Denver superfan (some dude in a barrel or something). I assume they minimally fly him to some away games, but I'm wondering if the Jets pay for his seats and what other compensation he receives. Lastly, that PSL question is a good one. I bet Ed, like most normal folk, won't be able to afford the PSLs where his seats are. So I assume the Jets will foot the bill for that, too, since it would look bad if their most well known hardcore fan couldn't afford his PSLs.

    Meanwhile, go FAVRE go!!!!!!!!!!

Tell him to show up in the preseason for once, he's a fairweather fan, although he DOES serve a purpose.

I had suggested last year ,If the camera guys just keep putting different JET fans up on the big screens with the words "IT`S YOUR TURN TO START THE CHANT" below the persons picture on the screen and just did that all game ,that would take care of the chants....
