No shot. Im hoping Ainge goes on the IR. If not, PS and hell probably get picked up. Henry will also probably go on PS, we probably will keep 6 receivers because Wright is great on special teams.
I'm also curious as to how you arrive at this conclusion so early in his NFL career. I watched him during several 2-hour practices at TC and I saw some good things with him. He's fairly accurate and throws a good laser. And as I stated in my report, he had at least one throw that impressed the hell out of me when he rolled to his left out of the pocket and, while on the run, off balance and being pursued, threw a perfect laser to Ball or Clowney (can't remember which) with nothing but arm-strength to go on, since he couldn't set up and plant. Even the fellow next to me commented on what a fine throw it was considering he was on the run. He wasn't "THAT" impressive in college? Give me a break! He's a rookie, for crying out loud. We just drafted him! You must be one hell of a talent scout to make that determination based on how little any of us have seen of him so far!
Thats a fair point but I like the intangibles he brings us. He's a pretty good receiver with loads still to learn. He by his inclusion in a play puts a D off gaurd. I've seen him at QB and I'm in the minority but I think he can play a few downs and will get better. He won't last 5 mins on waivers.
I think Clemens better start looking at the rear view mirror a bit. Even though Ratliff played against the 2nd teamers he still looked way better than I would expect a 3rd string QB to look like. I would put Ratliff in during a 1st string sequence in the next pre-season game just to see what would happen.................
I like the concept of making sure we don't lose Ratliff & Ainge. We just dont know what we have w/these 2 yet. Its not like either of them has reminded me of someone I would cut like a Brooks Bollinger. Brad Smith might be the odd man out at WR.
It's a good question if you're a total believer in the "What have you done for me lately" camp. I don't think he's been having an impressive camp. On the two days when I was there, he was out there, yes, but, it was like... okay... he's out here. Nothing spectacular. They've apparently given up on the QB experiment with him for now too, because he was not wearing a red QB shirt while I was there and took no snaps either day. He was only in as a WR and really, Stuckey and Cotchery were grabbing all the attention along with Clowney and Ball and Wright the days I was there. With so many decent WRs in camp, including Henry too, he's probably having trouble standing out in all that crowd. So, without being noticed at QB position and having done nothing spectacular on STs, he's having trouble being noticed, IMO. A couple of good STs plays during some preseason games would go a long way to putting him back on the map, IMO.
Other than Brian Brohm, I thought he was the QB with the best tools, and given that he played in a very pro-style offense at Tennessee, I thought he was well prepared to transition to the next level. I see Ainge as a productive NFL player who has a good chance to win the Jets starting job, if given the chance, after Favre retires.
4 QBs and 6 WRs are a very real possibility. QBs: Favre Ratliff Clemmons Ainge WRs: Coles Cotchery Stuckey Clowney after that the "new" makeup of the "corps" are probably not possession Wrs, but speedy WRs who can catch and make YACs. No more noodlearm so the 10 to 15 yards dinks and dunks are history. The entire phylosophy of the "attack" has changed. The final WRs spots will more than likely be filled not because of STs play but rather can they be used as deep targets. We have evolved.
Possibility? Yes. Likely? I think them keeping 6wrs is fairly likely because Brian Schott likes to utilize the empty backfield (5wrs) set occasionally. If we go into a particular game planning on spreading them out a lot and using this formation, then I think it will happen. (we usually do this against the pats because they are very susceptible to being spread out and mythodically picked apart - we have had moderate success with this against them in the past few years). However, I think there is virtually NO CHANCE of them keeping 4qbs on the active 53 man roster. Carrying 4qbs on the active 53 man roster is practically unheard of. If you remember the infamous game in 05 when BOTH Pennington and Fiedler went down with injuries, the announcers (I think Ian Eagle and Solomon Willcox but that might be wrong) were flipping out because the Jets only had brooks bollinger left to play - of course Chad came back to finish the game despite having already torn his rotator cuff, AGAIN. Willcox (sp?) was making a huge deal about the fact that 2 qb injuries in the same game to the same team is very rare and very scary because teams RARELY carry more than 3 qbs on their active roster.
The only exception that I can think of to my previous post is if a team keeps a 4th qb to be a holder on kicks. However, that would be very uncommon because the holder in todays game is ALMOST ALWAYS either the backup qb (2nd string, not fourth) OR the punter. Every once in a blue moon, a team might actually use their starting qb as the holder. (TONY ROMO - hahahaha)
No chance they will carry 4 QBs. You can't even designate a 4th QB. It would be a total waste of a roster spot unless you are willing to have your QB play special teams...lol. And don't be surprised by who gets cut.

Man, everyone here has really quick trigger fingers. The guys the front office drafted will most likely make the final roster...even if they didn't have awe-inspiring first preseason games against the Cleveland Browns' fourth stringers. My guess is that they carry three QBs and six recievers. But remember, we're probably carrying 5 RBs (Jones, Washington, Chatman, Richardson, Smith) and potentially four TEs (Keller, Baker, Franks, and Dearth as the LS), so that might not leave room for everyone we want on offense.
