psls suck and they are unfair but most teams today that build new stadiums have them so why wouldn't the jets and giants follow? you can talk about loyalty of fans and blah blah blah but the bottom line is this is a business. 1k is a fair price for upper level seats. if offered them next year there is a good chance i would take them.
Well whatever the NYJ fans are entitled to since the NYGs also paid PSLs would they not be entitled to the same thing?
I read something that the Jets/Giants were discussing opening up the PSL's to allow the purchase of additional events on an alternating basis. IMHO I don't think that would work too well. What if both PSL owners want to go to the same concert? It's going to be one big mess. I only know that I won't go for any PSL higher than $1k.
The problem with opening up the PSL to other events is that big name performers like Springsteen will not book the stadium because they will lose control of the tickets. A big act like Coldplay will see the majority of the tickets go directly to the secondary market via the PSL owner. Acts like Springsteen or Dave Matthews who make an effort to keep there concert ticket prices down will avoid these venues. So your PSL may get you into a soccer game or motocross but not much else. Of course there may be outdoor hockey on New years day that would be cool.
That is the problem. That is why they are calling it a "PSL TAX" and not just a PSL. They can't figure out how to work the PSL between the two fanbases, but in the meantime they figure they can still squeeze the money out of the fans by calling it a "tax."
Did the jets or the giants actually call it a tax? I did along with others here. Post a link though -- if you have one.
No, I am not a season ticket holder. I was just using the term since people here were. I gathered since so many here were calling it that (and I know some are season ticket holders) that it was used officially somewhere. Perhaps I was mistaken. In any case they can't be calling it a normal PSL, since 2 sets of fans would be paying to the rights to the same seats. So there must be a legal loophole somewhere both teams are using.
does anyone know what happens with rights if you've paid the psl and sell tix to someone who gets rowdy and kicked out of game? Can they really revoke my rights and make me eat the PSL
Excellent, excellent question. That alone ought to make somebody think twice about handing over $40,000. On the use of the term "tax," no, I've been following any and all articles on this PSL thing and I don't believe that language was used by the Giants or Jets. I believe it was used here in one or two posts. I wouldn't think they could legally use the term "tax" to describe the PSLs. One-time "surcharge," maybe. To call it a "license" sounds silly to me, because they do that to taxi drivers and liquor store owners, for example, to regulate their businesses and keep them honest. Come to think of it, if these PSLs are a "license," then perhaps it CAN be revoked if the person owning the license allows unauthorized use or unintentional or intentional misuse, such as selling to someone breaking the rules or state or federal laws. Interesting that they chose the word "license" and not surcharge. That could be reason alone to back off on giving them any money.
Well, I'm just responding to people who say they are not going to just GIVE the Jets all this money. You're not just giving your money away for nothing. You will be owning something that will have a tangible value. It's an asset. I don't know if the value of that asset will go up or down. But we can agree that it will either go down, stay the same, or go up......and we can also agree that if they adopt the Giants plan you will be able to SELL the PSL starting in 2011. So your reply is off base because I'm just posting the facts. The only non-fact is any asertion that it will go up in value........but it's not out of the realm of possibility that it could.
i suppose the questions will be answered: like -- if you dont renew -- what happens to your license? Or, if you do not review do you keep your license and can the jets sell it to whoever they want. Any idea -- or postings -- how this has worked out elsewhere? where it has not worked out?
I read the details of the Bears' PSLs a year or two back, and I recall seeing wording which said something like the PSL was not a ticket, but a license to buy tickets. And if you didn't buy those tickets, your PSL was forfeit. I couldn't make sense of it, and I think calling it a license is kind of silly. I think they should call this an arbitrary fee. It would still suck, but at least the name would make sense.
we need to get an official answer.. I mean if im shelling out mad psl money, goddamn if I can't sell a few games to make back a few bucks
Two things to keep in mind; 1. The Jets encourage you to sell your unused tickets through there website 2. As of this year reselling tickets at any price is legal in both NJ and NY Based on these two facts I do not see how the Jets can hold you responsible for the actions of a third party when they obtained your seats legally.
Fuck you Woody. You think signing Brett Farve will lesson the blow of your upcoming PSL's. Lets see how fast Woody is gonna slip us our PSL's in the mail now that hes got one of the all time great QB's.
You know what's funny. I try not to get into the PSL thing as I don't believe in worrying about it until there is concrete proof. This is the 1st time I felt as if they are trying to justify it.
I agree, especially after hearing Woody's statement this morning: "The Jets are committed to putting the best product on the field." Ticketholders are doomed. I expect the PSL announcement very soon now, and it'll probably be about what the Giants have announced.
Thats exactly what ol woody is hoping for. If jets get off to a good start you can bet your ass our psl package will be coming in the mail.
