NEW YORK JETS FANTASY DEPTH CHART Key: PTR= Position Tier Rank. This is the tier level where the player should be slotted in drafts. 1 = Elite Player 2 = Solid Performer 3 = Backend starter/Bench fill-in 4 = Roster filler or long-term prospect 0 = No value ITR = In The Rotation PB = Position Battle S = Starter QB PTR Chad Pennington - PB 3 Kellen Clemens - PB 3 Erik Ainge 0 Summary: The Jets quarterbacks combined for only 15 passing TDs last season, 10 from Penninegton and 5 from Clemens. Eric Mangini made the switch to Clemens as his starter midway through the season, but he was unimpressive before getting hurt and allowing Pennington another chance to come back. This position battle will probably not be decided until after the third pre-season game. Neither one will have much fantasy value and should not be more than a bye week fill-in on your roster. RB PTR Thomas Jones - S 2 Leon Washington - ITR 3 Jesse Chatman 0 Summary: It's no secret that the Jets offense will be a run-heavy attack, especially with the addition of seven time Pro Bowler Alan Faneca at guard and proven veteran Damien Woody at right tackle. They also signed former Chief, Tony Richardson to bulldoze a path at fullback. All this is good news for Thomas Jones, who had a hugely disappointing year with just 1,130 yards (3.6 average per carry) and only 1 rushing TD. Those stats are the reason why he will be selected late in most drafts, and why he'll be a classic sleeper pick. Leon Washington will be featured consistently as the third down back and as backfield receiving option. Read the full depth chart summary and more at TheFantasySportsForum.com
