Gents, Let's forget about the whole Brett Favre situation...we have a solid team, and i honestly feel like we would be taking a step back if we added Favre. We have a solid o-line now that should equate to a good running game. This means all we need is a QB who can run the offense. I"m committed to either Pennington or Clemons, and i'll leave that up to Mangini to decide. If we have a top 5 defense this year, and i'm optimistic about that, we will make a run for the division. Week 2, with our throwbacks on, bring on the Pats. Who is with me!!??!!
As fans we have zero control over what our team decides to do. There's nothing wrong with speculating as long as a chance exists.
If we haven't gotten Favre by the time of the 1st preseason game, forget him. Also, don't break the bank to get him. If Pennington and Bryan Thomas even up is not enough, forget him. I wouldn't trade even 1 draft pick for him and any deal must include Chad, if for no other reason than money.
How about spelling Clemens name correctly. And I haven't cared about Favre since this bullshit talk began.
The Favre. coverage in general is killing this offseason for me. Every time a watch NFL Live (i know), half of the 20 minute show is about who else? Brett. It sucks. Take your money and leave.
As much as I would like to be optimistic about Penninton and Clemens... Chad suffered a rotator cuff injury. This is not an insignificant boo-boo, like water on the knee or something. In fact, the dude has been downright injury-prone. Like every other Jets fan I would love to be optimistic about the guy, he showed a lot of promise years ago. But cold reason makes me think he might not be able to run the 2008 Jets. He was "almost great," he showed some great stats years ago, but anyone who watched last season knows he's a question mark at best. Then there's Kellen Clemens, who likes to throw the key INT. IMHO, this upcomimg season depends on this guy. He won't have a weak OL to blame mistakes on anymore. Who knows if he can make it or not? I don't know. You don't know. And obviously the Jets coaching staff has no clue either. I am hoping for the best, of course. Maybe with a stronger OL our QBs will improve. Maybe the Jets defense will be better, even without DeWayne and Vilma. Yeah, I know they were no great shakes, but for cryin' out loud--those were our 1st round draft picks! And if they succeed with their new teams (which seems to be a pattern with many NYC athletes, never mind the NFL side of things), well... It will be the... Same... Old... Jets... So, against all logic, I am rooting for Clemens to turn it around this year and lead the Jets to the playoffs. LET'S GO JETS!!!
The competition should be a a open and fair competition first of all. SO forget the stats, injuries, and such... The winner should be the qb who gives us the best chance to win and that is what Mangini is trying to do. I believe so far CP is outplaying KC, and until KC shows us otherwise Pennington is our qb. I think thats fair and simple.
here is what i want to do, in order 1) start kellen clemens, we need to see what he has, he was the first QB draft pick in the mangini/tannembaum era, even though the stats werent very good last year, he showed some signs for a young QB in his first shot at real playing time, see waht hte kid has, if he sucks, well we know he sucks and we can move on 2) trade for favre, as long as its not more than a 2nd rounder 3) pennington, last option, we know what he has, its so boring heres a pennington drive 1st and 10: screen pass for -3 yards 2nd and 13: thomas jones run for 4 yards 3rd and 9: dump off to coles for 5 yards punt ive seen it so many times, lets move on...clemens, then favre, then unfortunately pennington with that being said, i think pennington will be the starting QB for the new york jets in 2008
you're way off- thomas jones always runs for 3 yards on second and long, not 4 yards--the rest is totally accurate.
