Yeah, like someone else said... you're buying the PSL for one venue only... and realistically it's only 8 events (8 home games) period. How the hell does someone justify even $5,000 per seat for 8 events per year? The value is limited also because you've got to find a Jets fan who's gonna want to pony up for that. It's not like you've got other events (hockey, basketball, etc) going on... we're talking 8 Jets home games here. You're extremely limiting your resale market. The aftermarket on this shit is going to be a pretty hard sell, IMO, especially if the jets go 4-12. And now you're on the hook for $400 per game (per seat). That price sounds kinda steep to watch a 4-12 team? Well, you'd better send your check in anyway, because if you don't, you'll lose your $5,000 per seat PSL. There are going to be a lot of Jets fans looking at that situation and saying to themselves, "Thank God I didn't get myself on the hook with that crap." "Hello, Mr. Scalper? Got any Jets tickets for, say, $70 a game?"
The only bright side of all of this is that it happens to be occurring after a 4-12 season in which our co-tenants, the Giants, won the Super Bowl. That has to limit what Woody can charge for PSL's (at least in comparison to the Giants).
I am all for kicking people who bought 12 tickets as an investment that did not pan out, slumlords of the Meadowlands. You get a chance to buy 2 or 4 tickets on your account under your name period. Bet if they were Giants tickets and you thought you could make a buck you might piss yourself writing the check. All kidding aside...PSL's are a ripoff and will forever change the Jets "Experience", don't forget about the tailgating zones, maybe 10 years down the road tailgating might be banned anyway. Once they have your money you are screwed.
I just don't understand what is going to happen when someone who forks out 10K/ticket sells his to a broker, and the end user gets drunk and thrown out. Do they really think they can revoke the tickets and not have consequences?
Drunk is ok, snowballs are not, it will all be spelled out in the fine print. It's a license to pay money to park your ass in a seat to watch a team that you will have no chance in hell to see if they ever get to a SB without forking out as much as the PSL. Buy 3 widescreens and surround yourself with a gameday experience, it will be alot cheaper.
Expect higher PSL prices from a 4-12 team than an SB team? What on earth is your rationale for that statement?
4-12 vs. superbowl champs has absolutely no bearing on this situation. unless you are saying that creates a bigger market for giants tickets than jets, but there was already a much bigger market for giants tickets than jets so its really a moot point. i would be very surprised if it was much different than the giants pricing, sure i would hope its lower and based on demand for tickets it should be lower as they have a 30 year wait and the jets appear to have a much shorter waiting list. but that may not matter. it really all depends on what the management thinks they can get out of jets fans.
No, I predict the same PSL pricing as the Giants. If it's lower, it won't be lower by much. After all, they are financing their part of the Meadowlands Monstrocity with your hard-earned cash. I took a good look at the stadium framework when I went to GS to see Springsteen this past week. I wanted to knock it right down. What a waste.
Jody Mac said he heard the Jets were talking about opening it up and having PSL's cover all events: IE: Bruce Springstein, etc. That would be cool- but I'd want to sell my Bruce tix to make back my PSL... Only concern is selling them to someone who gets kicked out and threatens my rights..But it would make me more likely to pony up the PSL
at least they are thinking about opening it up to all events at the stadium which is what it should be.
I think PSL's are unfair -- especially when its just a tax (i.e. no extra benefit). If the PSL is 1k -- people may do it. My father, for example, told me for 1k per seat he'll do it to keep the tickets. Im still against it though.
