I dunno if this is old but: Jets | Speak with agent for Favre Mon, 28 Jul 2008 11:56:29 -0700 Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports James "Bus" Cook, the agent for retired QB Brett Favre, spoke with the New York Jets, according to a report by ESPN. The report stated that the Jets spoke with Cook but not with Favre.
None of these theorys make much sense to me. wheather - They got the Bubble, and if the wet Field would really be the Reason, why cancell both sessions? The field may dry up and be fine for the evening session. Teambuilding - They could have done this the last 3 months without loosing precious time of camp. Rest - We got a very young team, they don?t need rest after 3 days of camp that didn?t seem to be that hard, reading the reports. And did everybody already forget, that we lost most games in the 2nd half? Favre - They cancell practice to get on a jet to Mississippi and lick Favre?s balls untill he puts on the Green and White Jersey, and throw GB a 1st? My first guess would be that something terrible happened, second guess: Favre.
As written... it was copied from Jets Insider..... It follows the same path as most Favre threads the past few days. IMHO this entire media event has been engineered to crush Jets fans spirits... lets give them hope that they can get a real QB at the helm! And it'll never happen... Then when we're stuck with CP or KC, I'll be able to hear a hundred fans in the parking lot ranting how "we should've gotten favre!!". Just one more "should've" story to be thrown around the tailgate. in fact... I think Belichoke paid off Favre to create this debacle
i had looked on the official site last thursday i believe and they did not have practice scheduled for today, i was actually going to go down there today but due to there being no practice scheduled i will have to wait a couple weeks. not sure why this is being made to be a big deal as they had it scheduled off as early as last thursday.
The ESPN piece notwithstanding, both practices cancelled this early in camp makes very little sense to me. Cancellation is in the carrot phase of the carrot and stick approach. Using it so soon will confuse and confound most players, especially newcomers who have to be programmed in regard to what's expected of them at this stage. It sure sounds like something else is up to me and I hope that it involves "Old Reliable" - Brett Favre.
Well if they're making a full court press to get him, it would make sense for Woody, Tanny, Mangini, Schott and maybe even Callahan or Sutton and a few vets to go meet with him. That's going the extra mile...how could you have practice today.
Also imagine the media blitz if they had practice today and most of the coaches (plus a few players) were MIA? It'd obviously be far worse than what's been going on already. Who knows... I'm going to give up reading news feeds at work, go home, and drink some beers while waiting for this whole Favre situation to finally be resolved. The "rumor" is by tomorrow night at the latest.
ya right, if anything i expect a 4-a-day tomorrow to make up for this... this is mangini we are talking about
People, please stop deluding yourselves. Canceling practice had absolutely nothing to do with Brett Favre and had everything to do with Mangini wanting to give his players a day of rest. Coaches constantly adjust their techniques to try to get the most out of their players. Mangini has mentioned several times that he constantly talks with players with the hopes of getting useful feedback from players on tricky subjects like practices lengths, the effectiveness of different drills, AND EVEN, playbook preferences. People on this board sound utterly silly with their half-baked conspiracy theories and delusional Brett Favre oriented thinking.
