So after posting my thread from earlier, I drove to the gym and listened to the end of Sirius' coverage from TC today. They were just talking about normal team stuff, and then Dan was asked by Adam Schein about his take on the Favre situation. This was AFTER the "dead deal" thread was created here on the site. Leber feld said he was hanging around the media area and saw a "well-known, expensive reporter" about to leave camp. That reporter took a phone call then decided to stay. Leberfeld asked this mystery person why he was staying, and he stated that "the network" called and told him to stay until the end of the day because they have heard rumours that there could be a big announcement this afternoon. Leberfeld then went on to add, "now, this is how rumours get started. I asked someone at Jets PR and they said they had no knowledge of anything being announced today, and I have not personally been told anything abiut Favre and the Jets today" Adam Schein then re-iterated his doubts about Favre coming to camp. After this, Leberfeld totally hurt his credibility by stating, completely serious, that he believes the Jets will go 12-4 this season. Adam Schein and Ross Tucker were obviously appalled at this statement, and Leberfeld continued to back up his claim, saying he went through the schedule gamy-by-game and saw 12 wins for the Jets.....all of this including 2 losses against NE. He thinks we'll lose twice to NE, and to the Chargers and Seahawks then win the rest.
why is 12-4 unrealistic?...im sick of hearing about 4-12 last season...we lost 9 games when we had the lead late in the fourth quarter, it was not because of lack of talent. The team last year should've been better than Manginis rookie year. Now, our O-line has a chance to be the best in football...we have a chance to have one of the best young D's in football. We have alot of weapons on offense despite what the media and the "scouts" think. As for our QB situation, again its really funny how once the notion of Brett Favre playing in green and white becomes more realistic, all of a sudden Pennington and Clemens are the two wort qb's in the league. Give them a chance with a line and a full supporting cast. With Favre the Jets could be 12-4 easy. Without Favre, the Jets still could reach that. Also, stop givin NE so much respect. The JEts should've given them their first loss last year (thank you McCareins). The will win at least one game against them this year.
Speaking with Lebe on Thursday, I agreed with him then, and I do now as well. Assuming all of our moves work out, we should be able to win 11 games. I'm not a fan of Chad or Kellen, but with an Oline that is really gelling well, there is no reason our run game can't be very good. A very good Run game allows Chad (assuming he's the starter) to execute the Play Action successfully, and gives him time to pass. Defensively, just look at the names.. Pace, Jenkins, Harris, Gholsten, Revis, Rhodes. Throw in Thomas, Barton, Ellis. Our defense has the chance to be great. On paper this team is winning 11 games. I hate being Optimistic, but you gotta figure we start the season 2-2 before the bye. We should be able to roll until we play NE again.
Being a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, I expect disappointmend....I am ready to accept 7-9, anythign better will make me happy.
2008-2009 predictions I don't care a lot if the Jets sign Farve or not. It's be great if they could get him cheap, but no one wants to see them give up a first round draft choice for a dinosaur like Favre. But I have to say this: I am so impressed by all the reports that I am hearing from summer camp. Baker is a happy camper. Practices are not long and killer. Mangini is LISTENING to his players and changin things up. Tannenbaum took the right steps and investigated wjether the Jets could get a QB like Favre on the cheap. So what if the Jets don't sign Favre? at least they looked into the possibility. They did their due diligence and I am totally impressed. I am becoming convinced that maybe the Jets do have something good going on in their team, and that anything is possible. I know that most people who have read my earlier posts might not believe this, but the way Mangini and company are conducting business this year? I take back every bad thing I said about them.
