Personally, I don't know why Pete Prisco would publish this BEFORE the draft, but he has the Jets 31st ahead of only San Francisco in his new Power Rankings for the NFL dated April 4. OK, I agree with his assessment that the Jets will probably take a step back before moving ahead under the Tannenbaum/Mangini regime. However...he's got Detroit at 29 - Oakland at 26 - and Green Bay at 24. I would put the Jets ahead of those teams heading into the draft. Prisco's top 10 Steelers - they earned it Colts - ok Patriots - I need to see more or I'd drop them further Panthers - best in the NFC Dolphins - Prisco thinks Culpepper makes the Phins SB contenders...joke! Jaguars - really this high? Broncos - ok Seahawks - will they drop this far off the SB headache? Maybe Giants - ? One cannot take Pete Prisco seriously. As opposed to Peter King (subject of an earlier thread) Prisco does not have a clue. Prisco says Pennington is the starting QB by default. he doesn't acknowledge Patrick Ramsey or Chad's shoulder injury.
Well seeing power rankings on April 6th are a little crazy considering how much can still happen but when somebody rips on us like this I got to stand up for my team. I bet you we will be better than the Bills, Texans, Saints, and Packers.
It would be nice if reporters could at least wait until we play one pre-season game before they say we suck
for one, Offseasons are pretty boring - especially when there's no drama (i.e. TO) - so writers and reporters try to generate whatever material they can. secondly, a power ranking this early is a way to gauge what and how well teams do in the draft. that is, he has us at 31; if we draft well, then our power ranking will most likely jump up a few spots ahead of teams who draft unsuccessfully. i'm not defending his opinon or ranking of us/other teams because i also disagree. ultimately, it's pointless and purely subjective. but at the same time, i understand why he's actually ranking the teams. cheers
I read his power rankings but only to get a different view than ESPN's. Pete is a fool and his rankings are not well written. Last year he tried to pick OAKLAND as the SB champ! Ha, they did real good.
I hope everyone picks us 32nd this year. I'm not saying we're Super Bowl bound, but I'd rather sneak up on teams this year. I hope we hear less talk about Super Bowls in preseason and more talk about blocking, tackling, and getting ready for our first opponent. Slow and steady wins the race (unless you're Herm on the way out the door. Then lying, cutting and running wins the race).

Prisco is a paid troll. Why are people continually suprised that he continues to display worse grammar in his articles then your average jets forum poster and include inflammatory statements in his articles that have no basis in reality. It's par for the course.
