The question as originally posed in the poll is, "Should throwing motion be important when judging a QB?" Of course it's important, and the answer to this has to be "Yes." It's not the only thing that's important, but it's still important.

I think a lower release really comes into question when a QB is scrambling out of the pocket and has to throw diagonally across the field (on a 45-degree angle). The ball has to travel across the heads of more defenders and it has to be there for a longer period of time. Not only can it be batted down, it can be batted into another's hands, or tipped up in the air, or flat-out intercepted a lot easier. And as JetsIn2004 points out, it turns a 6'5" QB into a 6'0" QB.

The answer to your question therefore CANNOT be "No."

I think the motion means something if the QB is short or doesnt have a quick release and Young doesnt have a problem with either

I tend to agree that it's not a huge deal...Look at Leftwich, that ball damn near drops down to his hip before he brings it back up and releases. He seems to do well. But I think in a perfect world you would of course want perfect form.

One area that is getting forgotten about with throwing injury is how it affects the arm/shoulder and will it lead to injury?
Mechanics are very important for a QB since one incorrect motion could lead to a career full injury problems.
Any undo or unecessary stress on the arm will make that arm that much easier to be broken or strained.

did they lead the nation in QB efficiency?

they're not on VY's level as a prospect at all...why do you think none of them were even considered 1st rounders as qb and VY is considered by some a top 3 player in this draft?
