It may be on paper, but I do not recall hearing any rumors that GB had a yen for penny, plus penny's most value as a mentor is here with our playbook and offense.

I just don't see this deal ever really having much chance at materializing.

My point is that he wouldn't have much of a choice. He doesn't have a no trade clause and he'd have to just suck it up and "be classy". He's a classy guy.

No denying it. Penny is as classy as they come. His venier may continue to be rah-rah, but what of his heart?

Why would Green Bay want Chad Pennington in any deal. They have obviously decided to go with Rogers as the starter and Brohm as the backup. This would make absolutely no sense at all for Green Bay. If the Jets do end up with Favre, I believe Penny would be cut because that would free up 6 million on the cap and we would then be able to fit the old guy in.

Get out of here. Some or you are absolutely delussional and borderline unreal. For Favre, minimal you'd have to give a 2 and a 5,,,,, MINIMAL. What planet are the Jets getting Favre for a 4 or lower and Pennington, who the Packers absolutely would have no interrest in. I mean obviously YOU ARE NOT A BIG SUPPORTER OF FAVRE TO THE JETS if you are offering that nonsense. Maybe you can ask them to include their #1 on top of that, no? Just ridiculous.

The Jets still don't know whether or not Clemens is the future, so I don't see how prolonging the QB duel between him and Chad is going to help matters. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Favre on this team, but I'd also like to think of the future.

Unless, of course, we believe that just adding Favre will make us SB contenders for the next two seasons.

Adding Favre will give the Jets excitement and they would be a good team the next 2-3 seasons. For a team that is often not good, this would be an outstanding move. It would be about time they'd have a QB who could throw the ball down field.

You're talking about a guy who isn't even on the team right now. If they get something for him it's a bonus, right? I mean, they don't want him to start so why should we give up a 2nd for him?

I didn't realize you were an NFL GM and had all the answers. How do you know the Packers would have no interest in a veteran backup? You must have already talked to their GM and got all the details as to what they're looking for. Thanks.

We give a 2 and a 5 for what? We're not a "Win Now" team anyway, so WTF are we doing giving away that much of the farm?

We don't need to give away our future that way for a guy who is either a Has-Been or soon will be. Good Christ, have we learned nothing from the Ty Law's and the Pete Kendall's?

Fuck Favre. You really want to make a QB move? We should have drafted Joe Flacco.

Let me fill ya in on something and get real close so you can hear. In the NFL these days, with the cap,,, EVERYONE IS A WIN NOW TEAM. You can go 4-12 one season and win the whole thing the next. The Jets cannot win with Pennington as the QB. First off, the people saying Green Bay would trade for him are dead wrong. First off, Aaron Rodgers is better. Second off, in that cold weather, Pennington would be absolutely abysmal cause he has a weak arm. Favre was a Pro Bowl player last season, STILL one of the top 10 QB's in the league. Don't kid yourself by acting like he has little value. The only reason that Green Bay wants to rid themselves of him is that he jerks them around every off season and they have a first round pick at QB whose ready to play. Jets are a total different situation. You'd definitely get a 2 year commitment out of him and he'd be pumped up at the new challenge. Jets are gonna have a strong OL this season. Back to Pennington, you couldn't get a 7th rounder for him from Green Bay. Well, maybe a 7th but that's about it. Teams don't trade much for QB's who can't throw the ball more then 5 yards. Don't think the league is stupid. Every single team in the league knows how Chad throws. That's not enticing to a team that plays in below freezing temperatures alot of the time. Not enticing at all. Could you imagine a Packer fan, whose seen Favre throw for the last 16 seasons or so, having to watch Chad throw a wobbly 3 yard pass. Not happenning. Plus, Green Bay wants to start Rodgers. Why would they bring in Chad, who would come in there acting like somehow he should be the starter. And then they go through training camp, where Chad does excel,,, CAUSE IT'S NOT A GAME and have him think he should start? Not happenning. Chads problem now is he think's he's a starter and he's not and that gets him in trouble now. Other then a perfect situation suited for him, for a team with a big running game,, aka like a Minnesota,,, he shouldn't start.

I'm pretty sure Bernard King did it in basketball, first with the Knicks and later with the Bullets.

    Get Favre!

Have to admit that I haven't given this whole Favre situation much though. I actually bought it hook line and sinker that he was done for good...but wasn't all that shocked when he got the itch to play again. I mean who the heck wants to retire in that fashion, especially when you have so much life left in your arm and body.

Mike Francesa mentioned today on WFAN that the Jets are now debating internally whether or not to pursue Favre. I admit Francesa can be a fat blowhard at times, but he does have contacts and has made plenty of friends among the NFL higher ups, so this may be closer to happening than we think. Everybody else has sort of fallen by the wayside. They're not trading him to arch rivals Minny or Chicago. Baltimore has fallen far out of the mix now, as has Carolina (and they already have an abover average starter in Delhomme). Tampa Bay is old and on the decline. Miami, even in this quick turnaround NFL, are too far away to be taken seriously (at least 2 full years from playoff contention with how far they've fallen).

That pretty much leaves us and Washington as the two destinations that make the most sense.

What the hell are we waiting for? This is Brett Favre! Yes he's 38, but he had a great comeback season, can still make all the throws and his body is certainly not breaking down. And he's hungry to go out a Super Bowl Champion. Jets fans are about as Super Bowl starved as they come. It's a match made in heaven.

We can make noise next year, maybe not Super Bowl but we can definitely be in the playoffs. And once you get there, you never know. We've got the offensive weapons for him, we've got a rebuilt offense line and defense. The secondary is already good. And it's New York, I'm sure Favre would love to ride off into the sunset with a Super Bowl title in the big city. This guy is media savvy, not the aw shucks down home country bumpkin everybody has made him out to be.

The rewards outweigh the risks. He would step in and immediately be better than Chad or Kellen. Penny can be sent along his merry way somewhere. Clemens can sit back and learn for 2 years behind Brett.

We'll prove how serious we are about winning, we'll steal the attention away from the Bellicheats, Dolts, and Smurfs. #4 Favre jerseys will immediately become best sellers around the league, they'll have to change the Madden cover to him in a Jets jersey : ) Bottom line, it'll be good for the team on the field, it'll be good for the franchise off the field (and take some of the sting out of the coming PSLs as Francesa mentioned on his show)

Let's stop messing around, let's stop doing things halfway. Time to be bold, take a risk and bring Brett Favre here. He's slipped through our fingers once before...let's make sure it doesn't happen again!

Here here!! I for one don't get all negativity on this board about Favre. He would WIN GAMES. Hand's down. QB position is one of the only question marks on our team and potentially the best QB ever will be there for the taking. It really is that cut and dry.

The Jets are debating internally whether or not to pursue Favre??? Are you serious? There should be no debate, we should be throwing everything including the kitchen sink at him to get him interested in us.

Just imagine that first home game, coming off of a huge Miami win, the stadium seats full before kickoff for once, everyone waiting to see what Favre will do against the Cheatriots. And the fear on Belichek & Brady's faces as Coles & Cotchery lineup in the shotgun at the first play from scrimmage.

Or the other way, we will have a half-full stadium of fans all but handing the Win to the Pats at kickoff. No fear from the Pats at all, since we barely beat the Fish the week before 3-0. And the bad taste of last season still fresh with all the new additions to the depth chart. Let's not forget the resounding boo's the first time Chad or Kellen makes a mistake.

    GET FAVRE!!!

I say forget him, send chad, kellen and baker to cleveland for quinn. Now that would be exciting for years to come not a couple of weeks, when everyone says he shoulda stayed retired! Why dont we call marino and bledsoe too?

Personally I think Clemens will be better than Quinn. He does not impress me on any level.

I would love to bring in mr. Farve. He is still a legend at the top of his game, waiting for his chance to compete for a title again. certainly he would be welcomed in NY and I for one would have no choice but to go get a farve jersey, and besides we would be Super Bowl favorites! or at least in Madden's eyes anyways.... lol
