    Done.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family LV.

I think this should be stickied somewhere so people (like me) don't have to go thru a page or two looking for the address.

    Wow.

I'm not sure what to say, really.

I used to frequent this site religiously, but it became blocked from work, so my lurking and posting stopped.

I really haven't posted on this site in years, except for an odd post here and there, but I remember Green Guy very well. He was one of the "Darksiders", a term we used here for the Jets fans that became disillusioned, frustrated with the team and saw very little hope on the horizon. Green Guy would often lead the charge against the "Sunshiners" or those that liked Herm Edwards.

It was all in good fun, though. GG always struck me as a smart, passionate fan, one that followed the team for so long and had every right to feel the way he did. I repsected that about him, although we didn't always agree. His passion for this team was what united us all. We all love this team and bleed Green and White.

I'm sorry that he's gone. I'll mis his posts. I'm sorry I haven't been able to check in and read how he felt about the current regime, and his thoughts about our chances of winning a championship. I'm also sorry that he won't be here to celebrate when we finally do.

I'll be sure to donate what I can. It seems like a very worthy cause. RIP Green Guy. To your family and friends, I offer my deepest condolences.

    John

He was a great poster, and I'm sure he was a great guy. Death is not the ending, it's just the beginning. Peace.

When I first joined this board, it was after a 7 year drought of close Jets contact. I had been in the service for about 7 and a half years and instead of pursuing interests on the internet, which I had no patience for on dialup, was more interested in partying and chasing tail.

Right around '98-'99 I started searching thoroughly for resources to keep track of the team after Parcells revitalized my passion for the team; I dicked around mostly on random football boards and on that pathetic one-thread forum on NFLTalk.com (PFT's predecessor) before it was sold out to ESPN.

In the following year, I searched for a while as I was mainly posting on music message boards because the only Jets board I knew of was JI.com, and that site was like a forum for people who tailgated and used the game for a reason to do it; it was too cliquey and turned me off. There wasn't a hell of a lot of Jets football talk going on there when I looked at the board.

I think it was 2000 when I started looking at the Times board and found a really good discussion on how Vinny's injury affected his accuracy, and a guy whose name was joeklecko on this board posted a link to a similar discussion from here. In that thread that was posted, two primary combatants were engaged in debate. nyjunc and Green Guy.

I guess I had always been a Jets enabler up to that point, swearing my allegiance to the Jets in a blind way that a detached fan who had been away from home for a long time holds onto old traditions. I had wanted to believe that Vinny would come back from that injury and saw a lot of merit in junc's arguments, but the passion and outside-the-box thinking involved in Green Guy's arguments swayed me, and I kept reading that man's posts. I didn't always agree with him, because there were so many excellent posters on the board for such a limited community population, and I erred on the side of positivity.

When I found TGG.com there was a real passion to the football talk that was going on here, and Green Guy was a standout in that respect. And on this board, it was none of the tailgating and elbow-rubbing, it was all business. We were here to talk football. You want tailgating? I think there was a tailgating forum on this site that had like 5 posts in it. I don't want to see your tailgating pics.

Green Guy couldn't stand Herman Edwards. He knew how to interpret the beat articles we were provided and expound on their significance where other people took them for face value. He had an amazing point of view and a relentless passion for this team regardless of how much he criticized them.

I remember seeing very enthusiastic posts from him during the recent 2006 season and saying to myself, 'Man, if GG is feeling positive about this, then I think we're going to be okay this year.' Positive posts from GG were cool to see because he was a very critical fan and talked more about what was holding us back than what was helping us win games. Like I said, he had a great passion and it was contagious. He was a pillar of this internet community.

I know I bash the media and journalists in general, and that had been his chosen profession for a length of his life, so we battled on that one. And maybe I think my outspoken opinion on them may have been a source of friction and soured him on me, but I never lacked respect for Green Guy. His posts were so intelligent and clear-headed and convincing that no matter whether I agreed with him or not I always got something worth digesting. He could relate his opinion very well.

I would guess in life that he was a charismatic person based on his posting alone. No one with that intellect and experience could avoid it. I always kind of tallied the people who won arguments in my mind and Green Guy was up there in points. He was the first to point out on this board that the Shaun Ellis 3-tech experiment would fail and the first to point out it's effects. The first to rail on the absence of the interior of our defensive line, many great arguments on that one. I remember he and Cman and Petrozza led the charge on the initial arguments against Herm on this board. Good times.

Green Guy's posts meant a lot to me, and to know I'll never know his point of view on the current state of the team or get the chance to meet him and know what he was like still saddens me. Thanks for convincing me that this board was the place to be, GG. Thank you for your great intellect and knowledge and fervent interest in this team. You will be missed.

    Ted
