the jets will draft omar jacobs in the third round.he might turn out to be better then the three q.b.s. in the first round.
I cant agree wid dat statement but I would love 2 draft this kid ive seen him play many times and reminds me of a steve mcnair, ben rothles. type player. Great arm strenght, mobile, n pretty accurate I wouldnt mind that pick, i dont want to draft a qb in the first round but to say hes goin to be better than them is really really really pushing it.
I would rather not take a QB on day 1 (espacially Jacobs). Not saying he wont be a good NFL qb one day, but IMO his throwing motion is worse than Young's (similar to that of Terry Leach  ). Something that extreme (unless he becomes Bernie Kosar) is going to take a while to correct. That type of delivery just makes it way too easy for defenses to bat balls down. We can fill so many other holes in this draft, and believe it or not, right now QB isn't that big of a need. Before you jump down my throat, let me explain....... We've already got 2 former first round picks on the roster. Honestly, I have no faith that Pennington will be anything more than a semi-reliable backup for the remainder of his career. I truely believe (considering everything his arm's gone through) he'll never be close to 100% again. Keeping him on the roster however, (for the time being) isn't a bad idea. I'd hate to see him go somewhere else right now, and find out that (by some miraculous act of god) he actually CAN play at a high level again. In Patrick Ramsey we've got a young, tough, hungry QB, with a big arm and (what I believe to be) a plethora of untapped potential. There's no doubt in my mind that this guy is going to give us everything he's got, and do whatever it takes to be the guy in NY. This guy is at a make or break point in his career (that can only benefit us). He's going to play with passion and do everything he can to prove all the nay sayers wrong. Believe me, I've heard all the arguments. Save me all the "I'm from the Washington area, I've watched all his games, and I know he's nothing more than a servicable backup" and the "He holds on to the ball too long and makes bad decisions" critiques. With a little solid coaching, his negatives can be corrected. (To address those who are thinking "Well, the same can be said for Jacobs". You're right. The only difference is Jacobs will also have to get used to the speed of the NFL game. Ramsey wont.) Ramsey's numbers were neither stellar nor terrible in Washington, and lets take into account the absolute pounding he took under Spurrier's watch. I've said it before. No one can convince me that any QB in this draft will be better than Ramsey when all is said and done. We don't NEED a QB that's going to put up Manning like numbers. We need a qb that's going to simply move the chains. We're in a great position draft wise (with 5 picks in the first three rounds). We could very easily patch up holes on the offensive line, and grab a defensive/offensive playmaker or two. IMHO, given the situation we're currently in, this is the way to go about rebuilding this team. If worse comes to worse, and after this season neither Ramsey nor Pennington look like they're going to do anything considerable for us long term, we can always revisit the QB situation in 2007. My point is, why spend a high pick on a QB right now, when we can fill other needs? Especially when the "franchise QB" we're looking for may be right under our noses.
Amen Clown Man. I like Omar and all but i think he'll be taken in the lateish second round and we dont need a qb anyway... I never can understand why people are so obsessed with taking a qb when we got penny, ramsey and bolly. IMO they can hold the team for another 2+ years(Hey, were not gonna win the superbowl so we really dont need a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning, or Leinart at this stage, we can do fine without a franchise qb)
i hear so much crap leinarts arm. but you guys like jacobs who doesnt have a big gun and is coming off a shoulder injury. i dont get it
Jacobs separated his shoulder, but the injury obviously wasn't serious enough to warrant him missing all that much time. Leinart had shoulder surgery in high school, so his shoulder isn't peaches and cream either. Jacobs is a smart kid who stands in the pocket and is cool under pressure. He makes good decisions and reads, and most importantly, while he can run, he's made a conscious effort to make that a backburner part of his game, useful when necessary. He will take a few years to develop, but I don't have doubts about his arm. Jacobs literally pushes the ball, as if he were a righty throwing left-handed, and it still travels with velocity fairly far down the field. I think a corrected motion and a few years to learn would do wonders for his passing abilities. -X-
How about "I'm from the DC area" and I pretty much agree with you about Ramsey? I watched him in 2003 under Spurrier and he showed many flashes of potential. Sure he made mistakes but he looked like he had a future if he just gained some more experience. The Gibbs came in and had to have a veteran QB and that completely destroyed Ramsey's confidence and he hasn't been the same. Remember only a few years it was common for ex-Skins QBs to end up going elsewhere and doing pretty well.
I dont know much about this guy but how can you compare McNair and Rothlesburger (how ever it's spelled). One has a good arm and runs the other is a pocket passer that live on short passes? (Jetsforever)
and its that kinda thinking that gonna have this team not winning no super bowls anytime soon. u wanna draft 5 olineman in the 1st day go ahead...i have no problem watching leinart turn into a star for another team. the hard on for D brick is damn near sickinging. you must love being second fiddle to the giants. giants get the franchise qb in eli manning who is turning out great.. and we will have Dbrick protecting a qb that has a water gun for a arm and a qb who flat sux.. but since he is a jet he is all of sudden great. to mediocrity for the next 10 years:up:
You think Leinart is going to do anything without an Oline? Wrong. And the book is still open on Eli, he has some glaring faults.
he doesnt have the phisical tools of ethier. i honestly dont even care who is the qb seems like the feeling around here aslong as he is protected anyone can throw for 40 tds. so why waste a 3rd on jacobs lets take drew olson or kellen clemens in rd 7..
Eli> chad, patrick, and brooks eli made the playoffs in his 2nd season...ad u wanna worry about a few of his mistakes. he is gonna get better every year just like his brother did
Eli made the playoffs? The Giants made the playoffs. Burress, Shockey and Barber had alot to do with making the offense run. And they have two spectacular DEs as well.
yep cause shockey and burress was throwing the ball to themselves. im sorry but recievers are only as good as there qbs allow them to be.. thinking you can just throw some suspect ass qb in the game and win is bogus. if that was the case the revens would have a few sb's by now.a nd as of right now our qb situation is very suspect.
