Pass rusher...rush backer....what do you really want? Why would you need a rush backer when that's primarily the D line's job in the 3-4 SCHEME with your STOUT DL's?? Your pass rushers in the 3-4 Scheme are PRIMARILY YOUR OLB's. Get your facts right.
I just can't see the purpose of having Thomas outside. I could only see a role in the 43 as the weak side end. Drafting Mario gives us an opportunity to put him (Mario) as the outside weak 'backer in the 34 and the 43 strongside end. Besides, i'd rather have JV blitzing from the strongside when we play teams with athletic TE's. All in all, we will be unpredictable on defense and that's what matters most.
We're forgetting we have Chatham and he's going to make a bid to start...he's 6'4 250...I know he's hasn't done much playing behind Bruschi but I think he's going to get a shot this year
I agree Colezdeep Chatham will def. I think show he is comin in here to try 2 start, but we will see wut happens. I hope we draft Mario I jus think he would fit ne D.
I would have already cut Robertson. That's just me. As for Vilma's size, last I've heard, speed is much more important to LBers in the 3-4 than size.
AJ Hawk would not be the rushing LB in a 3-4 system. I didn't make any typos. Deal with reality. He'd probably be an ILB in the 3-4. He would not be the guy rushing most of the time. Hell, and after reading that for the third time, it doesn't even make sense. Especially when re-reading what you quoted from me and then gave that insane response.
They wouldn't have to. They could just pass to the tight end or a back coming out of the backfield all day at 10-15 yards a pop. I'd pay money just to see Robertson move in to anticipate the run and suddenly reverse gears to try to drop back (on those bad knees) in coverage when he sees pass. SOMETHING would fall off the man for sure
Thomas at tackle, Ellis at tackle, Robertson at end. All these things happened last year. And yet none of those people played LB. Looking at Mario he's got the strength and size to do it. Personally, I think 3-4 end is his made-in-heaven position, but I think he can play all the d-line positions in a 3-4 and 4-3. And profootballweekly agrees, which is good enough for me.
What doesn't make sense out of my "insane response" I'm curious to know since you really haven't been objective about it with your post. What specific statement do you not understand. Are you trying to tell me: that AJ Hawk isn't a pass rusher? That's funny. :breakdance: Not to be a dick about it...but, do you actually know what a 3-4 Defense is?
