Vince Young had the greatest single individual performance against the greatest college team ever that was lead by the most successful college QB and had the next great RB and loads of other sure-thing NFL talent. This was the headline just after the Rose Bowl. Over the past two months all we have heard is how weak Leinart's arm is (it isn't), how dumb Vince Young is (he isn't), and how undersized Bush is (not true). Along with the guys who played for a National Title, the top OT through the entire season has been criticized for being too small to be a Pro Bowl level player, which is saying that atleticism isn't as useful as bulk. Then there was A.J. Hawk who was a freak the entire season and whose name doesn't even get mentioned by anyone not making a mock draft (where he is a constant top ten choice). It is driving me crazy watching so many members of the sports media go after their least favorite stand out college player and try to drag them down. When the teams, the guys who get paid to make the right choice and not just to write about their fantasies, make their picks at the end of the month those five guys are going to go in the top ten and no amount of aimless speculation and disinterested reporting is going to stop teams from appreciating what is one of the most top heavy and deep drafts in talent in recent memory. And it isn't going to stop any of those guys from being stars in the league for years to come. ---- (in case you can't tell, I dislike the media) :shit:
Reggie Bush is going to go #1 overall, Matt will go either #2 or #3, Vince Young could go as high as #3 and at worst #10... How is the media ruining it again?
Long Answer - That's the way the draft goes. College players spend two, three of four years building their resume and scouts, coaches, draft "gurus", media and the fans spend five months debating why the player won't be successful in the league. Short Answer - A players college success does not necessarily translate to pro sucess.
http://nyjetsfan.com/forum2/The-Media-Is-Killing-This-Draft-t10668.html I post on nyjetsfan.com and this was something I wrote this morning. In the future, I'd appreciate it if you didn't come and steal things that I have written, especially if you add smilies to it, which I find degrading. If you post on both sites, I would suggest not stealing at all because other people read both boards and it makes you look really dumb.
need you say more you hit it on the head.. just because vince young had a good game vs USC isnt gonna make him the #1 ovr pick guy has never took snap from under center.
valid point but i dont think his point was Young being the best, he obviously said Leinart is the most accomplished cuz thats non-debateable and im not saying u dont believe this or disagree whatever, but his point was simply Young puts together a picture perfect performance to prove his critics wrong (not saying there arent holes in his game but he did pick the USC defense apart with his arm and his legs), and everyone writes him off cause of a standardized test.
I hope so--this makes theganggreen look very sad in relation to nyjetsfan and if I were Petro I wouldn't be happy about that one bit.
If anyone believes for a second that any NFL FO is going to permit the media's impression of a player's ability impace their draft decisions, that person needs to find another sport to follow - something like figure skating.
