Is Pennington?s Right Ankle an Issue Heading Into 2008?
Posted by Matt Loede on June 7th, 2008 filed in Main

Today?s New York Daily News is reporting that Chad Pennington?s right ankle may be a problem again, as he is favoring the ankle. Pennington hurt the ankle at the start of last season, and it looks as if it may linger back into 08. During the teams practice on Friday, he was walking with a slight limp at times. Pennington and Kellen Clemens are expected to have a pretty good QB battle during camp this year.

This is not good news for Pennington as the ankle clearly bothered him last year.

And there is an article today saying that Tom Brady's ankle is still hurting him. Those high ankle sprains hurt like hell and after seeing Chad's I'm really surprised he didn't break anything or tear anything.

Anyone watch Pennington score that second td vs. NE Week 1? I hate when people act like he is not tough. Anyone notice he was suited up Week 2 in BAL? He is as tough as it gets.

Pennington will be the starter. Get used to hearing those words now so when Mangini announces the decision in a couple of weeks you're not jumping out of windows.

I don't think ANYONE has questioned his toughness - if he can play he will, but he is a little fragile. What we're all questioning is his effectiveness...He can be Einstein on the field, but if he can't physically make the plays he needs to it doesn't matter.

Clemens has to win the job otherwise this season is pointless. Either he stands out or most of our moves will have been for nil as QB will return to ground zero going into next season.

Hopefully (even Gloom N Doom has some sunshine days), young Mr. Ainge might have something to say about this !! Wouldn't it be great if that kid gives both KC and CP a run for their money.

no, it would mean we spent a 2nd rd pick on a QB who wont start and were paying chad starter money to ride the pine. and some late round scrub can beat them out?

no i really dont like that. your counting on Ainge to suddenly "get it". sounds more like a movie script.

sorry thats what you get for being positive with a name like that

Clemens or bust. as in Chad Pennington busting another bone in his body to get hurt while the starting job is handed to him due to his salary. Then its Clemens or bust.

Speculation by a reporter not a doctor. I will wait until preseason and actually seeing him play.

Oh I don't disagree with you, I would like to see Kellen make a marked improvement and take the job but I just want to see them both in action.

Darkhorse is Ratcliff, if thats how you spell it. More than Ainge, to me! And if chad wins , the season is shot...........again!!!!! Chad is an awesome human being, I get that part, but as a quaterback he has no velocity on his passes and is now a liability to the team.

he's more suited to be qb coach or offensive assistant than starting qb.

frankly, i'd keep clemens, ainge, ratliff, and trade /cut chad.

the guy tampa cut and the rams picked up would be better option at this point, and at a far lower cap cost. so would bollinger, if the vikes cut him .

No, Gradkowski would not be a better option at this point or any other.
