Leinart is a great prospect, a better prospect than Manning and Rivers, and about equal to Roethlisberger IMO (I had Roethlisberger as the best QB in that draft). He's got a good arm, it's just not a cannon. It's just that this entire year it's been people nitpicking Leinart's game for any possible drawback, and this is what has been found, and people who want to rip Leinart overblow this idea, and as a result, people think he is weak-armed.
Matt's arm .. When you see his arm draped over Paris Hilton or Tara Reid it looks pretty strong but on the field it is actually quite average. Here's my perspective on Leinny. He's got the smarts and he's a proven winner, can't argue either of those things. We have seen a number of these guys over the years. In the right system, on the right team, they produce at the pro level. The stars will have to alignhart (bad pun alert!). Here's the difference, a franchise caliber quarterback such as P Manning, J Elway, D Marino, B Favre will shine in most any conditions and will, at times take the whole damn team on his shoulders and carry them into the playoffs despite all the crap filling the other 21 starting positions. We've all seen it on other teams and we had it once a long time ago. This guy is not the second coming of Joe Willie and he never will be. Does that mean he can't be successful in the NFL, no, but lets be honest he isn't carrying the 2006 or 2007 Jets on his back to the playoffs. He's just not that good. None of the 3 top guys are gonna do any better than Ramsey. Hard to swallow but you know there's a good chance i'm right.
This is insane. There is NO WAY to know that these guys are gonna bust or become stars. Leinart has all the physical and mental tools to be a top of the line franchise QB. However, he had easily the best supporting staff in the country, at least 4 first round picks in his offense (Bush, White, etc.) So Leinart could be a bust...a guy that will never develop without a great supporting cast. He could be the next Carson Palmer or the next Chris Weinke or Peyton MAnning. I would not hate drafting him...I'd really like it. What I would hate is wasting two first rounders to grab a guy who is no guarantee. Granted none of college prospects are guarantees, but it will be easier to pick a guy who can succeed without help, as they proved with their schools.
Leinart also doesn't have a laughable name like Weinke. Hey guys I haven't heard a Dick Curl update in a while is he still here for comical support?
I know thats what I always say, calm down and take it easy this is all in good fun. If my opinion disagrees with yours thats ok. I will present my case and let you determine for youyrself what your opinion is. Me calling Leinart maybe the best prospect since Leinart is based upon what pro scouts have said.
Are you kidding me? That is the biggest overstatement of his potential I have heard yet. He is not even a better prospect then Palmer was coming out of the draft.
he was Carson is the full package .. but the only stopping leinart from being that is he doesnt hae the big time cannon everyone thinks when it comes to a qb.
kudos I'm an FSU fan and a Leinart critic...........and i cant even agree with this comparison. Weinke was just a guy with a cannon who chucked the ball around to amazing college WR's like Coles/Warrick. Leinart could easily be called a system player who took advantage of defenses looking to stop the run from Bush/White. but in all honesty Leinart is a far "safer" prospect than Weinke ever was. and I dont even like Leinart but Chris Weinke? thats a bit of a push. lol
i guess, his placement on intermediate routes is beautiful but knock on him is actually his deep balls should be sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines cuz they sail away half the time.
