I didn't think the general opinion of Drew Olson was that bad. He's not even a consideration on that list. And oh yeah, Mayock needs to get off of Cutler's jock. Sheesh.
See I think people like these just put something crazy out there so they don't recycle the same old stuff. I don't think those lists are at all reasonable but he is just saying they are so he can be different.
the only thing that impressed me more about Cutler this Offseason, was that his workout occurred in unfavorable conditions: it wasn't very warm and it was windy. he didn't throw in a perfectly controlled setting, and yet he still wowed the scouts. Both Leinart and Young played in warm climates their college careers and simulated the same in their workouts. But when it's blistering cold in December, they both better be able to perform; Cutler probably can compensate in poor weather conditions because of his agility and arm strength. cheers
There are a number of people who think that Cutler is the best QB in the draft. A little out there, but he's not the only one.
I'm no geographer, but Vanderbit is in a decent climate too. Tennessee can get cold in the winter but by and large football season is very nice in that area.
Cutler at #1 is really not that unreasonable... as mst3000 said a number of people have him as the #1, and maybe if Cutler was at a more televised school such as Texas or USC, more people would be agreeing with Mayock
oh yeah, i totally agree. im just saying, when the three QB's are tested in poor weather, I think Cutler has the advantage because of his arm strength. Leinart has the "weakest" arm of the 3; Young relies on his legs when his passing game isn't working, and poor weather/field can slow him down. In his workout, Cutler already showed a glimpse of throwing in adverse conditions, something the other two didn't in their controlled settings. cheers
I completely agree. Seeing how he didn't even explain why he ranked each player in their respective spots, his opinion really doesn't mean much. Anyone can list off players, but the trick is providing solid reasons why.
I agree with you the SEC is a warm weather division. With Kentucky being the Northernmost team in there Conference. When Cutler was throwing in cold windy shit conditions a couple weeks ago at Vandy it showed scouts he doen't need prime conditions to throw a decent football. Then on the flip side you have Young tossing in a dome and Leinart throwing in sunny Sourthern Cali. (Not his fault Cali weather is amazing)
Simply put... these personnel/draft guys who work for TV channels work for TV channels because 32 teams passed them up.
i wasnt saying i agree with it all. i was just putting it out there so people could see another opinion
