This about sums up my feelings. Choir boy, boy scout, marry my sister type........................who gives a rats ass, the fact remains is, he was awful last season for such a "smart, never make a mistake" 8 year vet.

chad was playing with a high ankle sprain last year that had a negative affect on his ability to plant and throw. chad relies on footwork and leg strength so when his wheel was broke, he tossed a few floaters.

when healthy, chad can make most throws and chad is still the most accurate qb in the nfl.

What was his excuse for the second half of 2006?

That's my exact feeling. I can almost see myself giving up on this team for this year if that's our best option. Almost as bad as when Vinnie came back for Herm after Chad went down. How the hell are we going to beat the Pats with Chad going against Brady?

    Shhhh!

Don't you know!? Chad was COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR! That means he was awesome!

Nevermind the fact that he threw 17 TDs and 16 INTs... Yeah, most accurate QB in the league...

Chad had one season (2002) where he was among the most accurate QBs in football...

He had one other season where he was a little above average (2004) and since then he's been mediocre at best, and down right bad way too often..

I like Chad, but didn't realize it has been eight years already?

Time to move on I'm afraid.

This year will be #7, he didn't play in 2000 or 2001, but he was on the team behind Vinny and at first behind Ray Lucas.

wow this is the attitude that prolongs the talk of even letting pennington start. so since weve had total douchebags at qb the last 20 yrs that means mediocrity is acceptable and even upgraded into quality play with enough excuses.

dont get me wrong, clemens hasnt proved much except he throws picks and has a tendency to light it up 4th qtrs. but the guy at least gets balls to people. minus a few gimme catches that ended in drops and wed have won more games. nobody discusses the fact either that penny had chemistry with this wr corps. yrs of it. clemens was thrown in and outside of a few reps he mightve recievied with the first team he did decent. nothing notable but he showed flashes, ive watched clemens lose games in that fashion, regardless of the picks he threw earlier he still puts the team in position to win. now pennington. the guy loses games soley off of interceptions and doesnt have the big arm to make up for it. with pennington at qb the whole team almost has to play mistake free. and its ridiculous.

and people wanna bash clemens and use the o line as an excuse for as to why penny wasnt decisive and accurate last yr. the o line sucked so u can make a case for either qb. point in case is. we know what we have in penny. and those thinking its good enough for the future of this franchise, please pass me the green.

its time to put clemens behind the revamped line and see wtf we used a 2nd rd pick on.

Not at all, I was just pointing out we have all seen worse than Pennington, and if Kellen can not beat out Chad in camp, than guess what he is worse.

I like Chad, and hope and pray Clemens beats him out, but he should not be handed anything, and again if he can not win the starting spot this camp, than he is garbage and I'm not sure he will get any better.

Once upon a time there was the same debate about Vinnie and Chad and Vinnie was handed the job even though he was done.

Pennington should start. He did good in 06 and the only reason he did so poorly in 07 was because his line sucked

If Clemens can't beat out Pennington in training camp the Jets are in big trouble for the future, unless somehow Erik Ainge can develop into a quality starter.

Bottomline is Clemens needs to step up and win the job, if he doesn't win the job right out of camp he never will and we will be left looking for a QB of the future again.

The thing about this I have to add is the CS better have a good feeling about Clemens right now. They better'd be expecting, not just hoping, he wins this so-called competition. Otherwise, what the hell were they doing not getting another Qb in here?!?!?

Now, I think it's fair, although not without some downside, that they are having a competition at all. There's the Chad Fans, who had no problem with no competition last year, but who would have demanded one if the CS was inclined to give it to Clemens outright. Plus having no competition last year came to backfire on them, so better not make the same mistake twice.

But if they right now, as it stands, think that Chad has an equal (not to mention better than even) chance to win this competition, they should be fired before another day passes.

Chad is like the best person I know. He is such a good person. No one should hate him. Every Jet fan should respect him and love for what he brings to the organization. He is nothing but class and adds things that can not be measured. I wish our fans realized how fortunate they are to have that type of leader on their team.
