You are of course 100% correct (he hadn't even thrown 100 pitches), except "we" didn't do anything of the sort. This inning has clearly demonstrated Willie's massive skills in managing his pitching staff. The amazing thing is that he makes the exact same mistakes now that he did in 2005.
Yeah but you have to agree with Willie here, I mean Vargas almost threw 100 pitches and he walked a guy. It was obvious to people with a high baseball IQ, like Willie, that he is done. And also, when you have a guy in the bullpen that has been as lights out as Heilman has, you have to use him in a tie game.
So, you think Willie will acknowledge in his postgame press conference that this loss was entirely his fault?
Mr. Met does a better job protecting our players than Willie. And I wish the next time Heilman takes the mound at Shea it's just before they literally bring the house down.

Well I'll agree that he doesn't argue much but it would have been real difficult for him to get out and defend/argue Alou in the 2 seconds it took for him to slam his bat and curse the ump. Alou is a vet, he knew what he was doing and what the result would be. There are a lot of things you can put on the manager but IMO this is not one of them... Cryin Bobby Cox couldn't have stopped that.
