Didn't expect anything less than this to be fair.

I doubt they will trade him unless they get a decent offer, he has no leverage.

  3. Baker's only hurting himself. He has absolutely no leverage.

that sucks man. I feel bad that some rookie is making more than he is. situation sucks. I would feel betrayed by the organization if I was him. who wouldn't

Who the hell is Chris Baker to be skipping anything? He has a 6 million dollar contract & he's a slightly above average TE...

    Baker really shafted himself.

He will be on the team this year, riding the bench as the #3 TE. What little value he had on the FA market, as a 30 YO JAG TE, just went out the window.

yeah. it's one thing if you're an aged proven vet -- like how we paid Bubba Franks.

but if Baker sits (3 on depth chart) this year, becomes a year older, and thinks he'll have teams throwing money at him, then he's in lala land

The most unfortunate part of this is that Baker is going to ruin himself because he overestimates his own value. He's going to get absolutely no money out of this, get put on the bench, and be marked as a malcontent once he leaves the Jets and is looking for a new contract. Isn't there still 2 years left on his deal? He is screwed.

    Exactly

In the case of Franks, he is 30 YO. A former Pro Bowler, who has been injured the last two years.

The Jets are hoping he can stay healthy, and return to his Pro Bowl form. If age has caught up to him, he will still be an excellent blocking TE.

Baker is none of the above

    *Sigh*
What a dumb-ass. He should be working his butt off -- have fun on the bench, Baker.

Baker will be the #2, Franks #3- Franks is kinda shot at this point, I wouldn't expect much from him.

Ask any other fan outside of the AFC East who our starting TE was last season and I guarantee 5% will know who it is. Baker is a moron for thinking he is this good.

Keller will not be a saving grace in his rookie year, but by his 25th game of his career he should be a big factor in the offense.

Well Baker has the best hands on the team. Franks isn't a better pass catching option due to his injuries. He's slowed down a lot since 2004.

The reason Bubba Franks is getting more than Baker is because the FO decided to do Baker a favor and front him half of this season's pay during the last season. It's the same thing they did to Kendall and it's having the same effect, player bitches for more money next year despite the fact that he agreed to the raise the previous year. Baker knew this was comming so it's his own damn fault. I like the guy as a player but not enough to give him a free pass on this.

I can't blame a player for trying to make as much as possible during their short careers but at the same time, if you sign a contract, live up to your end of the deal.

If a player exceeds the FO expectations, it seems that they will usually come across with some extra dough to protect their investment.

Did Baker exceed expectations or did he just earn what they paid him ? I saw nothing that made this guy indispensable.
