I don't know about you guys, but I am really, really excited to watch our new team play. I think many people are under rating our offseason moves, because as Jets fans, we are not used to big offseason moves. We have overhauled our defense the last 2 seasons by adding potentially five studs (Revis, Harris, Jenkins, Pace, and Gholston). I can't wait to see Tom Brady rolling out trying to avoid Calvin Pace and then have Gholston come from the other side and clothesline him into the dirt. We saw how the Giants took care of the Pats, and now we added 2 pure passrushers. I am worried about the secondary, but they were fine last season, and we had no passrush at all. And Revis and Rhodes are both young, and I feel like they haven't reached their full potential yet. As for the offense, we have D'brick, Mangold, Feneca on the left side of the line. With Richardson lead blocking, I can see Jones having 1,300 yards rushing. As long as Coles stays healthy, our passing game will improve greatly with the better offsensive line, improved running game, and the addition of a playmaking TE in Keller. And who knows, maybe Stucky will be healthy and contribute as well. I know we have a few big question marks, but if our draft pics and FA signings pan out, we could have a playoff team. And if we make the playoffs, you never know what could happen there. We could get hot like the Giants did last year or the Steelers did a few years ago and win the whole damn thing. As we saw the last 2 seaons, our team plays hard through the good and the bad and never gives up. With the improved team and an easier schedule, I think we have a good shot of a wildcard and maybe a few playoff wins. I know we were 4-12 last year and its still a long way until the season, but I'm very optimistic. We were 4-12 in 2005 and then made the playoffs in 2006 with, IMO, a much worse team then we have now. We just need a few things to fall in place and a little luck. I mean we are Jets fans, we are long overdue for some good luck
Considering we lost 7 games by 7 or fewer points last season, I don't think we were as awful as the record says we were. We also made significant improvements in the trenches which should go a long way. I would say 8-8 at worst, and 12-4 at best. I'll lean to the optimistic side and say 11-5 for the regular season record.
There's a lot of time left between now and the opening kick-off. There will still be a lot of roster changes/trades, etc. And don't forget that the Jets are not working in a vacuum, every other team is making moves to upgrade also. I think a realistic projection, barring injuries, would be 8-8.
I expect: - a running game that works. - a pass rushing scheme that scares QBs. - Time for the QB to throw. - Growth from our draft picks last year. - 9 wins due to the west coast trips. - Not making stupid mistakes that cost wins. - Larger fan turnout at the stadium. - .... Consistent QB play. I think the Jets will be exciting to watch, and not frustrating like last year.
good point, but i'd love to see what rating our QBs get. The roster updates later in the year will make them more fun to play with.
I think the Jets will have a very good year.I believe they will beat my Bengals this and finish with at least 9 wins.I hope you guys enjoy your year as I am worried about the Bengals this year.I like our offense but still woried about the defense.
If one of the QB's steps up and takes control and plays very well, we can win in the area of 10 games. If the QB's look not better with time to throw we'll be lucky to win 7. have the most important position on the offense being the most unsettled is scary.
I always feel great (even if its unfounded) this time of year. Even though I get more and more ramped up the closer KO gets (like clockwork, it is), feeling 'great' isn't the same as feeling 'good' about true expectations. Winning with smoke and mirrors and having the advantage that no-one knew how to game plan against us in '06 was over. That being said, I was thinking along the lines on 6-10, 7-9 for last year given our gaping holes. 4-12? I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting that; but 2008 bodes differently. I feel both 'great' and 'good'. I'm thinkin' Big D (I almost fainted). It's going to be an exciting year, I can feel it. 8-8, here we come!
1. Better, solid running game. 2. More time in the pocket for the QBs. 3. Solid reciever play from Cotch, Keller, Coles, and Leon. 4. A more aggressive D. 5. A better season from Bryan Thomas. 6. Rhodes to get some credit, cause he'll be '06 kickass. 7. Revis to get more INTs. 8. Our big 4 LBs will have similar stat totals, but all will have good seasons all around. 9. Lowery to be a pretty good nickel corner, and shows some potential at safety. 10. Chansi Stuckey to impress.
10-6 is my predictionn and a wildcard birth. Clemens will win the job and then progress as a qb, Im not expecting the word from this team in this upcoming season, but i think we are one more offseason from really finishing the job. All we really need now is and ilb next to harris and maybe we will need a Wr or CB. This team is really setting up to be great in a a few years.
I personaly like Marvin Lewis.I know last year was 7-9 but there was alot of injuries to the defense. But now the problem is off the field with Chad Johnson. So hopefully he can turn things around this year if not he may be gone.
The Jets have been bipolar recently so I have no idea what to expect. 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006 - lots to smile about. 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 - lots to cry about. 2000, smiling and crying. My head is spinning with this team. I'm hoping for 10-6 and a playoff berth.
Very high expectations. We went out this offseason and GREATLY improved this team, 11-13 wins and a division title please!
