I really expected a lot more from Derrick Strait.

Easily Anthony Schelgal or however its spelled did he even play a down? After that Id say John Mcgraw. At least Bryan Thomas had 1 good year I think we are going to try and trade him for a future pick before the start of the season. Maybe exchange him with the cowboys for Bobby Carpenter

From the standpoint of production vs. expectations, I think that Robertson was a huge bust. The Jets thought that they had the next Warren Sapp and they reached wildly for him. Meanwhile, Minnesota got a Pro-Bowler in Kevin Williams and NE got a solid, solid starter in Ty Warren at #12 or 13. The Jets look like huge dopes for trading those 2 picks to move up.

Robertson wasn't a bust, he was beginning a nice career until the new regime came in. It wasn't his fault they switched schemes.

Of course...he started from day one...that have to, The team has to justify the stupidity of picking him in the 2nd round.

I didn't say he was bust...I just thought he was picked too high. Like you said he's a decent kicker. But "decent kickers" are like wide receivers in fantasy football, they are a dime a dozen. You either pick em late or sign them as a FA.

You probably think Curtis Martin was a bust. Maybe TJ too. Hey, and maybe even Faneca, Woody, Jenkins and Pace are busts too cuz they are not on their respective teams...

Lamont Jordan was awesome while a Jet. He sucked in Soakland only cuz he's in Soakland. Now dont tell me he's a bust cuz Raiders just drafted McFadden.

Justify the stupidity? What are you talking about? Hes a kicker. The only thing he needs is kick power and accuracy. Do you think the FO was stupid cuz did'nt know if he has kick power? Its not like trying to find how smart he is in the zone or if he can do cut backs, find open WRs, read the QBs mind. Evaluating how a player is in respect to those skills is'nt an easy job. He was the best kicker in that draft and we were desperately in need of one. What round was Janicowsucky drafted in? Maybe first. Kickers can go first round too but rare. Kicker was a major problem in the Jets team when he was drafted. There was'nt any 'Justify the stupidity' move here. Yeah you can find kickers as a FA. We did that with Doug Brien did'nt we? That 'dime a dozen' move cost us a trip to the AFC championship game.

i couldnt call anyone not drafted in the 2nd round or higher a bust. really the term bust should be used solely for the first round. and really the top 15 or so.

kijana carter was a BUST, the qb from oregon was a BUST, there are many BUSTS but i dont see the jets having any of those guys recently. as far as minor busts those guys in round 2 are minor busts we have something to talk about. schlegel, and all those other guys, strait i think was a 2nd, mcgraw those guys were busts but not in the way i look at the term bust.

Cakes, correct me if I'm wrong, but in '04, we traded our 2nd round pick to Tennessee for McCairens. How's that working out for us?

Kickers decide a lot of games. If you can get a solid one with good range who has kicked in big games, a #2 pick isn't that big of a deal. People tend to overvalue draft picks and undervalue kickers.

Bryan Thomas gets my vote. The other whacko thing is why he was ever drafted in the first place. We already had 2 decent, to very good, DE's in Ellis and Abraham. Drafting him and moving Ellis inside to tackle f**ked up 2 positions.

Not only wasn't he the best player available he wasn't a 'need' pick either. Very strange selection, to say the least.

I know!! What was that all about? I'll never understand. We missed out on both Ed Reed and Lito Sheppard, who were both taken within a few picks after Bryan Thomas. ARGH! I hate Draft busts.

LOL. Here's his personal website: http://www.bryanthomas99.com/

im not going to disagree, but to me 3-4 round players are normaly average, but def DRob , and maybe thomas

  16. Yeah, the D rob bust talk is absolutely ridiculous. No one outside of the jets fan base considers him a bust...he's very well respected. He may not have lived up to his draft day trade or spot he was taken..but he was a solid 5 year starter who filled a perrenial hole for this franchise.

I'd say Thomas in 02 with Ed Reed and Clinton Portis on the board

I think is is easy to go with DRob here, but we did get productivity out of the guy, it is just that he never really displayed what we were looking for in #4 talent - no pro-bowls, etc.

I think Schlegel has to be characterized as a mega-bust.
